boy photo essay H olocaust E ducation A rchive R esearch T eam. [The Occupied Nations] The Boy in the Photo? The Warsaw Ghetto The Stroop Report. The above photo is architecture san diego one of the give the different of essay most iconic photographs of the san diego Holocaust, the German Guard pointing the essay on music festivals machine gun is known, the little boy is not known, but some of the other people captured in tectonics, this photo, have been identified. The photo was included in the infamous Stroop Report – “The Warsaw Ghetto no longer exists.” Extracts from the book by Richard Raskin. Give Parts Of Essay. The Boy in the Photograph. There are four possible identities for the little boy at gunpoint. The destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto. It was advanced as early as 1950, but documentation was first found in 1977-78, one source was responsible for making the claim, a woman named Jadwiga Piesecka, who was a resident of Warsaw. According to a statement she signed on 24 January 1977, the architecture boy in the photograph was named Artur Siemiatek born in Lowicz in 1935. He was the and punishment son of tectonics san diego, Leon Siemiatek, and Sara Dab and sujet corrige de dissertation, the grandson of the signatory’s brother Josef Dab.

A similar attestation was signed the following year in Paris by Jadwiga Piesecka’s husband, Henryk Piasecki, dated 28 December 1978. In 1982 a 47 year old ear, nose and throat specialist in Rockland County New York, came forward that in 1943, at the age of seven, he had been arrested in Warsaw and ordered to raise his hands by an SS man standing in front of him and aiming a gun at him. And although he could not recall that a photograph was taken, Dr Nussbaum believes that he might be the child in the picture. Tsvi Nussbaum expressed uncertainty that he was the boy in san diego, the photo, whilst others say that it is him. There are indeed two specific factors that heavily way up, against him being that boy. The first is that although he was arrested in Warsaw, he had never set foot in the ghetto- the second is the date he was arrested. Tsvi Nussbaum clearly remembers that he was arrested on 13 July 1943. This was nearly two months after the Stroop report is thought to have been completed, and sent to Himmler and Kruger. In the essay service early 30’s Nussbaum’s parents emigrated from Poland to Palestine, where Tsvi was born in 1935.

When conflicts broke out between the Jews and the Arabs in Palestine, the Nussbaum family returned to Poland, settling in architecture san diego, Sandomierz in 1939. By 1942 Tsvi Nussbaum parents had been murdered by the Nazis, and he was brought from Sandomiercz to live with an the different parts, Aunt and Uncle, in hiding, on the Aryan section of the tectonics architecture city. As Level. They looked after him for six months, but were caught in tectonics, a Gestapo trap, the essay Nussbaums joined hundreds of other desperate Jews in the Hotel Polski and were put on the Palestine list. On 13 July 1943 trucks came to take them away, but not to Palestine, but Bergen Belsen. At the concentration camp they were housed together in architecture san diego, a special barracks, given better food and not forced to as level english literature, work. If the boy in the photo is Tsvi Nussbaum, then the picture would have to have been taken at the Hotel Polski, and not within the Warsaw Ghetto, where all of the photos from the Stroop Report, are generally thought to tectonics san diego, have been taken. Dr Lucjan Dobroszycki is quoted in the New York Times article, doubts whether Tsvi Nussbaum is the boy in the photo, for the reasons set out below: The scene he noted is on a street not in the courtyard in which the Hotel Polski roundup took place.

Some of the Jews are wearing armbands that they surely would have shed while in the different, the Aryan quarter of Warsaw. The German soldiers would not have needed combat uniforms at the hotel. Architecture. The heavy clothing worn by essay military most of the Jews suggests that the photograph was taken in May – the date General Stroop put on the report – rather than July. Moreover every other photograph in the Stroop Report was taken in the Warsaw ghetto. Tsvi Nussbaum states: “I am not claiming anything – there’s no reward, he said. I didn’t ask for this honour. I think it’s me, but I can’t honestly swear to it. A million and a half Jewish children were told to raise their hands.” Lastly, with the san diego help of someone trained in photo- comparison, Dr K.R. Burns a forensic anthropologist at the University of Georgia, compared the famous photo, with a passport photo of Tsvi Nussbaum taken in 1945 said the following: Having examined the two photographs, Dr Burns said, that although the mouth, nose and cheek are consistent, there is one important disparity- the service ear lobes on tectonics the 1943 boy appear to be attached, whereas the earlobes of the corrige de dissertation 1945 boy are not attached.

This generic trait cannot change with age and the difference indicates the architecture pictures are not the same boy. The former Hotel Polski at 29 Dluga Street, entrance has been compared to the 1943 photo, but it is difficult to see whether it is the parts of essay same building. Avrahim Zelinwarger, aged 95, contacted the tectonics Ghetto Fighters House in Israel, in ghostwriting services, late 1999. He informed the museum that the boy in the photograph was his son Levi, as a result of that contact, the following information now accompanies the well known photograph, in their archives. According to the testimony of Abraham Zelinwarger of Haifa, the tectonics architecture san diego boy is his son Levi, 1932 - he suggests that the photograph was taken in the ghetto on Kupiecka Street, near Nalewki Street. The father, a women’s - hairdresser by profession worked at forced labour clearing rubble and damage at a burned out gas installation in Warsaw, and had escaped to Soviet territory at the beginning of 1940. Avrahim Zelinwarger confirmed during a telephone conversation with Richard Raskin that the woman next to the boy, his mother was called Chana Zeilwarger.

Avrahim Zelinwarger believes that his wife, his 11 year old son Levi and his 9 year old daughter Irina all perished in a concentration camp in 1943. An Anonymous Survivor. A London Business man contacted the as level coursework literature Jewish Chronicle in 1978 claiming that he was the little boy, not Artur Siemiatek, having seen a cropped version of the photograph. The man who contacted the paper asked that his name be withheld. During his statement he claimed the tectonics photograph was taken in 1941 and he remembers he did not have any socks on, both these claims are without doubt incorrect, and therefore this anonymous survivor cannot be seriously considered.

According to as level coursework, the Yad Vashem Page of Testimony number 90540, completed in 1994 by architecture her aunt, Esther Grosbard-Lamet, residing in Miami Beach Florida, the little girl was identified as Hanka Lamet. The same document lists 1937 and Warsaw, as the year and place of the little girl’s birth while the place and essay on music, circumstances of her death are listed as Majdanek- taken to Gas Chambers. The USHMM website also indicates that the woman standing to tectonics, the left of the little girl is her mother Matylda Lamet Goldfinger. The boy carrying the white sack near the essay service rear of the group shown in the photograph was identified as Leo Kartuzinsky by his sister, Hana Ichengrin, according to an email from Yad Vashem, received by the author. According to the USHMM the architecture woman in the back right was identified as Golda Stavarowski, by her granddaughter Golda Shulkes, residing in Victoria Australia. Who took the photographs? The photographs included in the Stroop report were probably taken by a number of photographers, who worked for PK689, Propaganda Kompanie , who were active since the creation of the literature Warsaw Ghetto, recording scenes of Jewish life and death during the early years of the German occupation. Albert Cusian, Erhard Josef Knoblach and tectonics, Arthur Grimm were among the photographers of this unit. Whilst possibly Grimm took the photo, another candidate is Albert Cusian. On Music Festivals. On a tip from tectonics, a survivor of the Warsaw ghetto, Cusian was tracked down to a small German town near the Danish border by the Sunday Times of as level english, London and interviewed by san diego Antony Terry.

On the the different of essay basis of that interview Philip Knightley and Antony Terry then co-wrote an article published on san diego 21 April 1968 titled 25 Years After -The Sunday Times tracks down the man who found “the subject matter so interesting,” and took these pictures of of essay, man’s inhumanity to man.” The words “these pictures” ostensibly refer to tectonics, the two photographs visible just to the right of the title, one of give the different parts of essay, which is the picture of the boy with his hands raised, though that photograph isn’t specifically mentioned in the article. Tectonics San Diego. Philip Knightley confirmed that to the best of his recollection that Cusian made it clear that he had taken the infamous photo. However, very different conclusions were reached by themes essay a Polish researcher Magdalene Kunicka – Wyrzykowska, who stated categorically in 1983 that the architecture photographs in the Stroop Report were taken by the Security Police and SS- Obersturmfuhrer Franz Konrad, who was Leiter fur Weterfassung (confiscation of property in ghostwriting services, the Warsaw ghetto). According to Magdalene Kunicka- Wyrzkowska, the photographs taken by the SD and Franz Konrad were collected by tectonics architecture san diego Stroop’s Chief of Staff Max Jesuiter, and from this collection, Stroop chose the pictures he would use in his report. On Music Festivals. The SS Trooper: Josef Blosche. The one person in the photograph whose identity has been established beyond any doubt is the SD soldier aiming his sub-machine gun in the direction of the little boy.

He was SS-Rottenfuhrer Josef Blosche, a most feared predator, who was often teamed up with SS-Untersturmfuhrer Karl –Georg Brandt, and SS-Oberscharfuhrer Heinrich Klaustermeyer, to terrorize the occupants of the ghetto on hunting expeditions, randomly killing whomever they chose. The Jewish citizens were then led to the so-called Umschlagplatz , from which they were transported to the extermination camp Treblinka. Signed: Josef Blosche. Blosche gave another statement at essay on music festivals a subsequent interrogation: I now recall a shooting of Jewish citizens in the Warsaw Ghetto.

This took place at a time when there was no transportation to the extermination camp Treblinka. Brandt gave each of us at the SD office in the ghetto, a small box of pistol ammunition. Beside me there was Ruhrenschopf, Klaustermeyer, and other Gestapo members, whose names I do not know any longer today. Brandt led us into the middle of the ghetto. Tectonics Architecture San Diego. I can no longer remember the exact time - I know the shooting took place in a courtyard, which one entered from the street through a gateway. Beyond that I still know that during the shooting, a truck carrying Jewish citizens drove by.

At that moment, I was standing at the entrance to the courtyard. How many Gestapo members were there I can no longer say exactly, it could have been 15 to 25. Signed: Josef Blosche. Berlin, 25 April 1967. For his dedication and zeal during the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, Blosche was awarded the Cross of War Merit 2 nd Class with Swords. I enjoy life changing places like Angkor Wat, Eiffel Tower, and Victoria Falls, but the tectonics san diego list of things you did in Finland sound just as appealing as any of those places that one might find on a wonders of the world list. @Traveling Ted – And I only had a small taste of Finland in ghostwriting the end. San Diego? Just the fact that there is ghostwriting, so much nature, everywhere, makes it a country that offers endless rewards to architecture san diego those who visit (assuming one likes being in essay untouched nature, which I believe you do!). What an excellent trip, Earl. Just reading through your sentences transported my mind into a relaxing state. I really needed that today, I’m getting a little cabin fever and going crazy inside this warehouse I work at. Wish I could be in Finland relaxing. Anyway, I completely get what you mean.

Sometimes the vibe of a place just makes you feel amazing, makes you reflect, makes you think… makes you dig deeply within you and, in the process, you are transformed. Architecture? I think that happens in as level coursework english literature any place where you can be close to nature. Seems like Finland is one of those wonderful places. About boring though? I don’t know, after reading things like: “The staff of Laivahostel Borea in tectonics architecture san diego Turku (located on sujet corrige an old cruise ship) Hotel B8 in Hanko (an old police station turned into a hotel)” That sounds AWESOME!

what an san diego, excellent trip, Earl. Just reading through your sentences transported my mind into a relaxing state. As Level Coursework? I really needed that today, I’m getting a little cabin fever and going crazy inside this warehouse I work at. Wish I could be in Finland relaxing #128577; Anyway, I completely get what you mean. Sometimes the vibe of a place just makes you feel amazing, makes you reflect, makes you think… makes you dig deeply within you and, in the process, you are transformed. I think that happens in any place where you can be close to tectonics architecture san diego nature, in my opinion. As Level Coursework? since like Finland is one of those wonderful places. About boring though? I don’t know, after reading things like: “The staff of Laivahostel Borea in Turku (located on an old cruise ship) Hotel B8 in Hanko (an old police station turned into a hotel)”

That sounds AWESOME! @latinAbroad – The nature certainly does help as Finland was probably one of the quietest countries I’ve ever visited. This certainly puts the mind in a great state of relaxation every day and that leads to plenty of benefits of course. And yes, Finland does have quite a collection of interesting accommodation options #128578; To me, every place in this world has it’s unique charm and can be worth a visit. It’s all about what you make of the experience. Finland may not have huge temples and pyramids and the local people and tectonics architecture san diego, culture may not be exotic at all to a westerner. But it seems to offer beautiful nature, perfect infrastructure, safety tranquility and friendly people who speak your language. This summer, I visited a small beach resort on the German coast of the Baltic sea. Technically, this would have had to be a “boring” experience since there are no jaw-dropping sights and there really isn’t too much to do either. Similar to Finland, prices are rather high and the infrastructure is over-developed, taking any adventurous edge out of the place.

Or so I thought. Yet I had a great time staying at a friend’s apartment for free and riding his bike along the beautiful beach which had cristal clear water and nice dunes. I exercised on the shores and had a beer watching the sunset, thinking about service future plans. Riding the bike, I came along a sailing school that offered free classes. Needless to say, I took one the next morning and spend my first official 30 minutes on a catamaran, learning a few basics.

All in tectonics architecture all, a very pleasent and essay, relaxing experience that cost me next to san diego nothing and I didn’t have to travel halfway around the globe to get it either. Essay Military Service? #128578; Hey Andy – That’s a perfect example of tectonics, how a seemingly random and unexciting destination can prove to be quite memorable! Thanks for sharing #128578; My girlfriend and I are Finns. Essay Service? We’ve been traveling for 8 months now. Tectonics San Diego? Many times on this trip we have had the same conversation: people ask what Finland is services, like and we say “Finland has nothing to see”. This is of course a lie.

Finland has plenty of things going for it. We do NOT have mountains, canyons or ravines, ancient architecture, a long national history, or a myriad of tectonics architecture san diego, other things that you usually visit a country for. What we do have is difficult to ghostwriting canada explain, and so perhaps “Finland has nothing to see” is the easy way out. Thank you, Earl, for taking the architecture time to essay festivals explain this in detail. I can now put “the Finland experience” into words better. #128578; Hey Jonas – Yes, that is architecture san diego, definitely a lie but I know exactly what you mean #128578; It’s one of ghostwriting services, those countries where travelers just need to go there, carve out their own unique experience and enjoy whatever comes their way. And I’m confident that the majority of tectonics san diego, those who do visit have overwhelmingly positive experiences wherever they do end up, but perhaps like me, they will find it hard to explain to on music festivals others who have yet to experience Finland for themselves. Thanks for commenting Jonas! I get a little nervous when my food is tectonics, served with too wide a smile.

I was born and raised in crime themes Hanko and tectonics, have a very deep love for those beaches. When you stand on one of those beaches or on a rock at the edge of a beach and look out at the vast sea in front of english, you you somehow feel both solitary and like a part of the world at the same time. Because really, you could sit yourself down on tectonics a boat and eventually you’d get to the other side of the world. This is military service, what comforted me when I was younger and longed for the world outside of tectonics san diego, Hanko. English? Now having left Hanko a while ago going back home makes me feel even more like a part of the world. Now I live in Turku and tectonics architecture, I love it here too but I miss the seabreeze. I think one must surround oneself with the give the different sea. P.S the lady who gave you your biketour happens to tectonics san diego be my mother and her name is Leena Immonen (not Leena Immocu like you’ve accidentally typed) Our little seaside of Hanko bid you welcome back anytime! Hey Julia – I remember when your mother took me up to some rocks next to the beach where people often go for storm-watching. And as I stood there I wished that I could stay in Hanko for a week and just enjoy it all some more!

One of my favorite places in the world is and punishment essay, Kyrgyzstan, especially the san diego city of Bishkek, and there is nothing there. Not a thing in terms of big attractions… not much in service general. But I love it. I love how comfortable I feel there , the tectonics unique culture, the daily adventures, the people — and that’s all I need. In fact “attractions” are often a let-down for me, so I don’t really travel for them as much as I do for crime the feeling of a place. If you want to write about Finland, I suggest writing about how it makes you feel.

An experience that set the tectonics architecture san diego tone. I think you’ve already done that a bit in this post anyway #128521; Hey Brooke – That’s a good point about attractions…they can let us down, especially when we go in with such huge expectations. And Punishment Themes Essay? And that’s why places that don’t have such attractions can be so rewarding…if we don’t have any expectations, we can accept every experience as rewarding and positive! I certainly think that a city not having any “must see/do” attractions is not at all a negative. In fact, many of the cities that I’ve traveled to literally because I picked the name randomly from a list have been some of the best ones I’ve ever been to. Architecture? For me the as level coursework english best experiences can be gained just by wandering around a city, walking, looking up, down and around, observing people, talking to locals, sitting down to have a drink and watch the world go by.

Having said that, don’t get me wrong – as other posters have said, tourist attractions are often amazing too. Tectonics Architecture? Not fabricated attractions, but attractions that became attractions because they had “something” worthwhile about crime and punishment themes them. What I felt when I first saw the Eiffel Tower and Colosseum for example, far exceeded what I could have imagined. Hey Paul – Picking them randomly is an excellent idea! And I’m similar to you as I often find a simple wander or a simple moment in a random place to be some of my favorite highlights.

First of all… “And so, after a good lunch in Turku, I sat on architecture a bench…” LOL, you’re absolutely right – that IS pretty pathetic garbage prose! #128521; But seriously, while I normally eschew the “beaten [backpacker] path” of sights like the Taj, Ankor, Giza, etc. I’ve learned that many of sujet corrige, these “can’t miss” sights are legendary for good reason: They truly ARE spectacular. I mean, yes the hawkers at Giza are in a class of “Annoy” by themselves, but those pyramids? Gazing at them with my own two baby-blues was utterly awesome. BUT… that said, I hear you loud ‘n clear about not settling for merely the “gotta dos” of the world. Yep, the Gobi was great but… my fondest memories of Mongolia shall always be the small interactions – churning yak milk into butter with a Khasak housewife; of tectonics architecture san diego, Cambodia – sitting on a park bench chatting (mostly in mime) with an aged local; in Egypt – hopping on a falucca with a Nubian lad and give parts, seeing the grin on architecture san diego his face when we found the geocache on Elephant Island; and canada, here in tectonics architecture san diego Vietnam? Yes, yes, Ha Long Bay surely didn’t disappoint and is not to as level be missed, but again, my fondest memories here are of ho-hum little every day bits that are impossible to tectonics wax glowing about in a blog post. Hey Dyanne – Definitely.

There is a reason why popular destinations are popular and I like to visit such locations as well. As Level Coursework English Literature? But I think it’s important to realize that there is more out architecture san diego, there as well and services, that often times, just like you said, what we remember from our travels, what changes us the architecture san diego most, are those moments that no guidebook could prepare you for. Hey Earl, I really enjoyed reading this post! I find that people overlook places that arent in the ‘top ten places to see’ books. Some of my friends who want to maybe go traveling with me only mention big cities that have huge monuments that they want to go to. and while these cities or towns at probably very nice, I also want to see random towns that don’t seem to services offer much. These are the places where you can skip all the tourists and tectonics san diego, see the culture of the essay on music people who live there! I totally agree with you on this point! Great post Earl!

@RunAwayHippie – Random towns are the way to go and while it might be difficult for some to believe that at architecture first, usually, after visiting a couple of non-guidebook destinations, most travelers discover the appeal! Earl – after living in Thailand for 16+ years, I sometimes feel I don’t know what exactly it is about the country that makes people so excited. I know there is alot to do, beautiful places, great people, interesting sites, but is that what keeps me here? I think not. More than likely, what gets people to come to a place or keeps people staying anywhere is a feel that something is right. I’ve been to Cambodia many times, maybe 40.

I like the place but after so many times going there for crime and punishment visa runs, work, and tectonics architecture san diego, fun, I no longer find the place appealing. Canada? Interesting for a day or two, but after that, I can’t wait to leave. Architecture? The place doesn’t have it. Neither does Singapore or Laos, IMO. Coursework Literature? It’s the little things that matter: the food, the people, the tectonics san diego experience AND THE FEEL of the place. Hey Scott – Those little things certainly do play a major role and the interesting part is that every single person is attracted by a different set. So what is appealing to one might not be appealing to another, but in the end, that doesn’t matter at all.

If we find the places that feel right to essay us, then that’s all that matters! This reminds me of the upper peninsula of tectonics san diego, Michigan. I couldn’t understand why more people don’t choose to crime go there, but then I took my husband he called it an tectonics, “old people place” and said we should go to like New York City or some other crowded touristy place next time. Oh, well, some people just don’t get it #128578; The U.P. has beautiful untouched forests like the Porcupine Mountains, tons of canada, waterfalls, and clear water beaches on tectonics architecture san diego Lake Superior and culture in the few small towns that survive through the harsh winters (like Copper Harbor or Marquette). What’s not to essay on music festivals like about getting a sandy Great Lakes beach to yourself for tectonics architecture swimming or finding the most interesting rocks with just the right weather in the summer?

Also, like you mentioned in the post that sometimes little activities like biking along the lakeside road, purchase fresh fruit from a roadside stall … could me wonderful highlights … i remember passing by services canada, the sleepy town of Leikanger in Norway and the hotel was next to a lake. Spending time at the charming lake shore, listening to the sound of little waves hitting the sandy beach was some of the architecture my favorite time. of the whole trip. Thanks for sharing #128578; Hi Earl, I think you summed up Finland perfectly. Essay Service? I spent five months out san diego, there in 2007 and your post made me feel really nostalgic (in a good way). One of the reasons why I wanted to go to Finland was because of the mystery – no ‘must see’ tourist attractions sprung to mind and essay military, I think that’s exciting.

Travel is surely about tectonics architecture san diego exploring the places that don’t have much written about essay them. Obviously it’s nice to tectonics architecture visit ‘must see’ sights, but it’s the canada little things and the people that really make travelling magical. Anyway, enjoy the tectonics rest of you time in Finland and if you haven’t got any other plans, I’d recommend driving through Finland to northern Norway. Tromso and the surrounding fishing villages are really incredible. Hey Clare – I’ve actually visited northern Norway before, all the as level coursework english way up to Honningsvag and tectonics, the Nordkapp (such a beautiful part of the world!) and this Finland trip was a relatively quick one. Glad you agreed with the post! Hey Earl, I enjoyed this post! Mainly, because it?s something I?m trying to do on my travels too – I do research places to go, but generally ignore major recommended places and just land in military a place, city or town, then talk to locals about architecture what is there to do. Even if it?s nothing, it?s the talking to locals that sometimes is the highlight. The best way to travel is to the different travel slowly.

Then you notice all the things that you would miss if you just do tourist attraction hopping and tectonics architecture san diego, go by official, published guides. Out of interest, how do you decide where to go next and ghostwriting canada, how do you research the destination? Or do you just “land” in a place and then look around? Hey Lukas – Yes, that is definitely a great way to travel and I also feel that such a conversation with a local often ends up being more memorable than any sights I could have visited. As for architecture deciding where to go next, it’s usually quite random. I’ll just wake up one day and start thinking about a particular country and that’s it. Essay On Music Festivals? And I don’t do much research, very little in fact. Tectonics Architecture? I much prefer to parts just show up and let the trip unfold on architecture its own!

Thanks Earl for sharing your wonderful time in Finland. The fish dish reminded me of the one i had down the steps from the Helsinkin Cathedral, in essay a local festival . Tectonics San Diego? Did you go to Eliel Saarinen’s house? When i travel scenery, history, art/culture, food place high in my priority list so i picked the location based on these criteria. However, i always leave room for surprise, meaning time that allows me to discover something that i had no idea about, suggested by the local people or media. This is the part that makes traveling exciting, imho :-). I remember discovering this place while wandering the neighborhood of services, Chartres cathedral in France Hey Lien – Leaving room for surprise is always a wise idea, no matter what the focus of our travels. And I didn’t get to tectonics architecture Eliel Saarinen’s house, just too much to see and do during my stay.

The past few times I’ve had the opportunity to travel, it has been to major locations like London, Paris, and Rome with a few side trips to sights like Stonehenge and Pompeii. After a few trips like that though, I’ve been contemplating something more toned-down for ghostwriting services my next trip. San Diego? I have a week off of school near Christmas, and I’ve been trying to convince some friends of mine to join me in military renting a cabin in Switzerland near some random town I’ve never heard of before. Tectonics San Diego? Nowhere spectacular… I’m less concerned with seeing the sights and more interested in just being there. I enjoy being the tourist from and punishment themes essay, time to time, and tectonics architecture san diego, I love encountering all of the history and culture associated with the parts of essay major sights of the world, but I’m also looking for a more “local” experience. Sometimes it’s nice to not lug around a guidebook/map and tectonics architecture, develop blisters from running around a destination at essay breakneck speed to try and see as much as possible in whatever time I have #128578;

Hey Lindsay – It is nice to just be somewhere every now and then and your Switzerland idea sounds more than ideal. If I wasn’t heading to India I would join you myself #128578; Earl, a question. What do you do about stuff like books, or momentos or gifts that people give you. Hard to travel with these no? Do you have some kind of tectonics architecture, permanent storage somewhere or just don’t hang on to anything more than what fits into coursework literature your bag? @I’m Also Earl: I don’t really hang on to much but I do have a couple of boxes stored at architecture my mom’s place back in the US where I do keep things that I’ve picked up along the way. It certainly would be difficult to travel with these items!

I just spent 2 days in Helsinki and give the different, can’t wait to see more of tectonics architecture san diego, Finland. Coursework? Surprisingly, many things there remind me of Japan (maybe that’s why all the Japanese tourists go?). I don’t mind skipping ‘must see’ sights at all if I’m not personally interested, and some of the san diego countries I loved best aren’t really popular with tourists or lack the large feature article sights – Taiwan and South Korea for themes essay example. It’s all about the general feeling, friendly people, good food and vibes. @The Queer Nomad: Indeed it is and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your travels around the country! Oh man, I’ve always wanted to take a nice relaxing trip to Finland. It sounds like just the place to go after a few hectic months stuck at san diego work or fighting the chaos of big cities. Also, “forty-two seconds of crime and punishment, deep thought…” Do I spy a Hitchhiker’s Guide reference?

Hey Derek – Ha, I actually didn’t make any reference of purpose #128578; Whenever anyone asks what my favourite city is, in a heart beat I say Helsinki. There is “something” about architecture Finland that I loved that I just can’t put my finger on crime themes essay but I just loved every minute of san diego, my stay. Crime And Punishment Essay? Was it my amazing host, the great food, the architecture wonderful people, the sitsit. I don’t know but I know that I will be back. Hey George – Well, what made your stay so perfect is definitely less important…sometimes we just love a destination for no specific reason at all!

Secondly, Macbeth cogitates, throughout the soliloquy, over King Duncan’s rectitude and essay, describes him as an immaculate, virtuously humble Respect and Sympathy in Macbeth#x27;s Soliloquies Essay. Tectonics San Diego? From this point on, we start to wonder about Macbeth's integrity. Ian PerrellBy the time of Macbeth's first soliloquy we have witnessed Shakespeare change Macbeth from a loyal soldier, to and punishment themes essay, contemplating the murder of his King. Macbeth's first soliloquy is basically his inner dialogue where he is deciding whether or not to murder Duncan. Shakespeare has Macbeth talking about the murder in great detail, but has him talking about it in brutal language (euphemisms): 'horrid murder of Old King Hamlet, as well as to discredit anything that Hamlet says on this subject. Architecture San Diego? Yet Hamlet reveals to Guildenstern and Rosencrantz, that he is “but mad north-north-west” (Act II, Scene 2) meaning that he is only crazy sometimes. This soliloquy is essay on music festivals just one of many examples throughout the play that Hamlet’s madness is indeed an act. This plan, and the reasoning behind it, could not have been created by someone who was truly insane. Hence, this section by Hamlet is integral to the play as In this soliloquy he is mad at himself for waiting so long to architecture, take action to avenge his father’s death. Throughout this speech Hamlet is expressing self-hatred and scorn.

In his self rage he says, “I am pigeon livered and lack gall”. By the end of the soliloquy Hamlet has developed a plan Desdemona is being unloyal to him. Iago discloses that Othello’s character is naive and will be easy to manipulate. essay edge wiki by Fra. Belarion, O.T.O. (Jack Parsons) The Seventh Ray 1976 - C.R. Runyon - Editor. Editor's note : Jack Parsons died in a laboratory accident in 1952. Since I first wrote this essay in 1946, some of the more ominous predictions have been fulfilled. Public employees have been subjected to the indignity of loyalty oaths and tectonics the ignominy of loyalty purges. Members of the United States Senate, moving under the cloak of canada, immunity and the excuse of emergency, have made a joke of tectonics architecture san diego, justice and a mockery of privacy.

Constitutional immunity and legal procedure have been consistently violated and that which once would have been an outrage in America is today refused even a review by the Supreme Court. The golden voice of social security, of socialized this and socialized that, with its attendant confiscatory taxation and intrusion on and punishment themes essay individual liberty, is everywhere raised and everywhere heeded. England has crept under the aegis of a regime synonymous with total regimentation. Austria, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia have fallen victims to communism while the United States makes deals with the architecture san diego corrupt dictatorships of as level, Argentina and Spain. For numberless centuries society accepted the proposition that certain men were created to architecture, be slaves. Their natural function was to serve priests, kings and nobles, men of substance and property who were appointed slave-masters by almighty God. This system was reinforced by essay military service, the established doctrine that all men and women were owned 'in mind' by the church and 'in body' by tectonics architecture san diego, the state. Essay? This convenient situation was supported by the authority of social morality, religion and even philosophy.

Against this doctrine, some two hundred years ago, rose the most astonishing heresy the world has yet seen; the principle of architecture san diego, liberalism. In essence this principle stated that all men are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights which belong to every man as his birthright. This idea appealed to certain intractable spirits -- heretics, atheists and as level coursework revolutionaries -- and tectonics has since made some headway in spite of the opposition of the majority of organized society. As a slogan, however, it has become so popular that it is rendered unwilling lip-service by festivals, all the major states and yet it is still so distasteful to persons in authority that it is nowhere embodied as a fundamental law and is continually violated in letter and in spirit by every trick of bigotry and reaction. Further, absolutist and architecture totalitarian groups of the most vicious nature use liberalism as a cloak under which they move to re-establish tyrannies and to extinguish the liberty of all who oppose them.

. Objectively, we know nothing at all. Any system of intellectual thought, whether it be science, logic, religion or philosophy, is based on certain fundamental ideas or axioms which are assumed but which cannot be proven. This is the grave of services, all positivism. We assume but we do not know that there is a real and objective world outside our own mind. Ultimately we do not know what we are or what the world is. Further, if there is a real world apart from san diego ourselves we cannot know what it really is; all we know is what we perceive it to be.

All that we perceive is conveyed by on music, our senses and interpreted by architecture san diego, our brain. However fine, exact or delicate our scientific instruments may be, their data is still filtered through our senses and interpreted by our brain. However useful, spectacular or necessary our ideas and experiments may be, they still have little to do with absolute truth. Such a thing can only exist for the individual according to his whim or his inner perception of his own truth-in-being. The witches and devils of the middle ages were real by our own standards; reputable and responsible persons believed in them.

They were seen, their effects observed and they accounted for a large body of otherwise inexplicable phenomenon. Their existence was accepted without question by the majority of men, great and humble. From this majority there was not and sujet still is not any appeal. San Diego? Yet we do not believe in these things today. We believe in other things similarly explaining the same phenomenon.

Tomorrow we will believe in corrige de dissertation, still other things We believe but we do not know. Whatever the universe is, we are either all or part of it by virtue of our consciousness but we do not know which. No philosophy, scientific theory, religion or system of thought can be absolute and infallible. They are relative only. One man's opinion is just as good as another's. There is tectonics architecture no absolute justification for emphasizing one individual theory or way of life over another. Every man has the right to his own opinion and his own way of life. There is no system of human thought which can successfully refute this thesis.

So much for positivism but other problems still remain. Essay On Music? There is necessity, expediency and convenience. If these are illusions they are very popular and san diego it is usual to consider them. We might say that politics is concerned with necessity and expediency whereas science is concerned with convenience. This is not intended to discredit science and reason in festivals, their proper spheres. Reason is one of our greatest gifts, the power that differentiates us from the animals, and science is our greatest tool, our best hope for building a genuine civilization. (It is curious that this modern truism appears, in this system of reasoning, as a concession.)

It must be the epitome of man's aspertion toward liberty and self-determination, a canon so sacred that its violation by a state, a group or an individual is treason and sacrilege. The Bill of Rights in the American Constitution was a step in the right direction and its study will indicate further development. In a world so threatened by positivism and tectonics san diego paternalism this doctrine is limited in both scope and application. It permits such violations of liberty as the late National Prohibition Act, the Draft Law, the closed shop, the Mann Act, censorship laws, anti-firearms laws and racial discrimination. To live his private life, insofar as it concerns only essay himself, as he sees fit. To eat and tectonics architecture drink, to dress, live and travel as, where and he will. To the positive opportunity to enjoy these rights as he sees fit, without obstruction on the one hand or compulsion on the other. Finally, in order to protect his person, his property and his rights, he should have the right to kill an the different aggressor if necessary. This is the purpose of the tectonics architecture right to keep and bear arms. These rights must be counterbalanced by certain responsibilities. The liberal accepting them must guarantee these rights to all others at all times, regardless of his personal feelings or interests. Essay? He must work to establish and protect them, live in a manner commensurate with them and be prepared to defend them with his life. He must refuse allegiance to tectonics san diego, any state or organization which denies these rights and english literature he should aid and encourage all who, without qualification or equivocation, endorse them. He must refuse to architecture, compromise these principles on any issue or for any reason. Nothing short of such a commitment will assure the survival of essay service, liberty, or democracy of society itself.

Liberalism is not only a code for architecture, individuals and their state, it is the only possible basis for a future international civilization. However, these principles will be only rhetoric unless they are revered and protected by those to whom they apply. They must be interpreted and applied with understanding and sympathy, with humor and tolerance. Pretentiousness, sentimentality or hysterics are not needed in their application or their defense. Insufferable demagogues of high principle are sufficiently numerous as it is. Of all the strange and military service terrible powers among which we move unknowingly, sex is the most potent. Let us call our true sins by architecture, their right names and expiate them accordingly -- but let our lovers go free. Be blessed in the name of man. And if any god deny you for this, I will deny that god. Parts? If there is no other reason and tectonics architecture no other significance, man himself has on occasion created reason and significance, standing as the maker of his gods in a garden made fruitful by themes, his own creative power.

If in our folly and fear we will ascribe moral qualities to the lightning that strikes, to the star that shines, to the tiger that kills, then we will not hesitate to assign them also to the woman who gives and the man who takes.
