benefits coursework Learning from GCSE Coursework: Fostering independent learning, critical thinking and creativity? Susan Martin, Alan Reid, Keith Bishop, Kate Bullock. Essay Count! Department of Education, University of Bath, Bath BA2 7AY. Paper presented at thesis project in architecture the British Educational Research Association Conference Cardiff University, September 7-10 2000. Paper arising out of ib extended essay word, ESRC funded project Learning from 2co com*educators oh GCSE Coursework (Award no: R000222684) This is a draft paper and should not be quoted or cited without the express permission of one of the authors.

This paper arises from a project the principal aim of which was to explore the potential of ib extended essay word count, GCSE coursework to develop skills associated with critical thinking, creativity and independent learning (CCI). The paper briefly outlines the essay p. lopez background to and overview of the ib extended project with the main research questions and foci and then sets out the main findings to date in writing, relation to the research question focusing on word, assessment. A The Research Project. Background to and overview of project. Over the past fifteen years, the help coursework original arguments for coursework as a part of the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examination system for 16 year olds in the UK have diminished in influence. Ib Extended Essay Word Count! Among other things, this trend appears to stem, firstly, from an increasing emphasis on it audit resume, accountability in the education system, with GCSE results now used as a measure of school, department and teacher performance as well as pupil performance, and secondly, from perceptions of rigour and fairness in ib extended, representing the standards which should be engendered by the national examinations at the end of compulsory schooling. It Audit Resume! At the inception of the GCSE, coursework was included as a central component of the examination which would raise the validity of the assessment process and enhance the learning of students. A coursework element to ib extended word count the qualification, it was argued, would promote and give value to less tangible transferable skills such as critical thinking, creativity and top paper independent learning.

The advantages of such approaches were thought to include: providing a useful vehicle for communication skills; giving pupils credit for initiating tasks and assuming responsibility for their own work; increasing the essay 'reliability' of the assessment by providing wider evidence of pupils' achievement; developing an understanding of the part that school subjects play in the everyday world and their relevance to pupils' own lives. The aim of this research study was to examine the potential of GCSE coursework to develop in 16 year old pupils in mainstream schools the skills associated with critical thinking, creativity and independent learning. The research began by of mice and men essay chapter, exploring the nature of the three attributes, and in addition, it probed the influence of the assessment of coursework on this type of learning. Essay Word Count! The study used a qualitative approach to p. lopez investigate teachers', parents' and students' conceptions of the skills of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning and to explore the ib extended count values, organisation and on reggae practice related to ib extended essay word GCSE coursework which might develop such qualities in young people. Within six case study schools, University researchers worked with teacher researchers in English and geography departments to appraise past and 877 294 current practice in GCSE coursework, to examine its potential to contribute to critical thinking, creativity and independent learning and to ib extended essay word count set out any extending and limiting factors of assessment. The six case study schools were identified through the working relationships already established between the University and local schools in the five contiguous counties. The sample represented differences in gender mix, location, socio-economic status and funding. The teacher representatives in each school were drawn equally from geography and English backgrounds and all were keen to be involved in essay of salvador p. lopez, the research. Data collecting techniques comprised focussed group meetings, semi-structured interviews and a scrutiny of coursework in English and geography. The first task was to develop a common understanding of the three constructs, critical thinking, creativity and independent learning. Initial workshops were arranged for the University and teacher researchers.

These used synopses of current papers in the field, brainstorming techniques and priority exercises to explore perceptions and identifiers of the three constructs. From the workshops semi-structured interview schedules were constructed by the University researchers and essay count returned to 2co com*educators oh the teacher researchers for validation and comment. The schedules were then trialled with appropriate pupils and parents from different schools. Essay Count! In-depth interviews were carried out between June 1999 and of salvador p. lopez June 2000. A systematic sample was obtained with respondents from particular categories identified by the teacher researchers as follows: Table 1 Interviews. 1 The current picture. To what extent are the original qualities attributed to count coursework achieved in current practice? It is claimed that coursework offers a set of benefits for the learner (see above). Top Paper Writing! A scrutiny and analysis of current practice investigated the extent to which coursework: gives students credit for initiating tasks and assuming responsibility for their own work; supports and develops creativity and critical thinking; increases the reliability of the assessment by providing wider evidence of students' achievement.

Ways in which coursework is introduced, organised and ib extended supported at school, departmental and individual teacher level and by parents at home was also captured. Examples of specific strategies for fostering skills of independent learning, critical thinking and creativity were also explored as was the value attributed to 2co com*educators 877 294 coursework by the school, teachers, students and parents both in terms of its contribution to assessment and to the learning process. Where coursework is seen to word be limited, reasons for this will were explored. 2 Students' learning. To what extent does coursework contribute to the development of skills associated with independent learning, critical thinking and creativity? Recent research into perceptions of the GCSE (Bishop et al, 1997a; Winter et al, 1997) indicates that the vast majority of help on reggae coursework, GCSE students find coursework motivating. It is the one form of work in the students' experience which allows them some degree of ib extended essay word count, freedom in their approach to learning.

Students have more control over their learning in coursework and it provides an opportunity for those pupils with different learning styles to demonstrate their understanding; it also can provide teachers with opportunities to use their own favoured approaches (Goulding, 1995). Students' conceptions of how they learn from coursework were explored. Individual approaches to the following aspects of coursework were also be investigated: how topics are selected and it audit resume how the work is planned; which resources are used and from whom help is sought; how students like to learn and what strategies they use to evaluate their work. Students' understanding of their own organisation and approaches to ib extended count learning from coursework were probed (Riding and Read, 1996) in order to identify outcomes of the high level skills aspired to by the Pacific Rim countries. Issues of gender, level of attainment and home and cultural background were also considered (Bishop et al, 1997b).

3 Issues of assessment. Top Paper! What is the influence of assessment frameworks upon students' learning? Assessment is ib extended word a central feature of western educational systems and plays a fundamental role in it audit resume, learning, both at a formative and summative level where the role of assessment is usually to judge performance. Perhaps of greater import is the influence that assessment has on ib extended essay, how students learn (Gow and Kember, 1993; Marton S ä ljö, 1976; Entwistle, 1981). Assessment can limit learning by, for example, inducing a type of learning that is superficial and can encourage students to adopt strategies which do not match their preferred approaches (Riding Read, 1996). If types of learning such as 'deep learning' are to writing be encouraged then the assessment component of the education system must be authentic and, therefore, be broadened, rather than the current situation which constrains this (James and Gipps, 1998). The research investigated how teachers use the assessment framework in their teaching in ib extended word count, relation to coursework and it audit resume how the students perceive the framework and how it influences the ib extended essay way they undertake their coursework.

Issues concerned with learning and assessment explored included: the use of student feedback; ownership of work and learning; teacher diagnosis of thesis, learning difficulties and the suitability of coursework to students' learning styles. Ib Extended Word Count! The constraints of assessment in respect of what is learned and which strategies students adopt was also be investigated. For example: what are the learning outcomes expected from coursework? to what extent do these models match SEAC 'ideals'? what emphasis is given to coursework in comparison with other forms of questions 2, teaching and ib extended essay word learning? Findings and 2co com*educators 877 294 oh Discussion. One of the purposes of incorporating coursework into the GCSE was to promote and give value to the 'softer' less tangible transferable skills such as critical thinking, creativity and independent learning. It is word count clear from this research that such skills are valued and recognised by essay p. lopez, teachers, parents and students and that they think that coursework has an important role in giving students an opportunity to develop and demonstrate them. It is also evident that these skills have a role in essay count, producing good quality coursework. Top Paper Services! However, evidence from all three groups clearly indicates that such process skills are of secondary importance to the goal of achieving a GCSE grade for coursework. Ib Extended Essay Word Count! Thus, GCSE coursework is not primarily seen as developing critical thinking, creativity and independent learning skills so much as using them.

It is thesis in architecture recognised that assessment has an influence on students' learning. This link or influence was a particular aim of the research and the remainder of the paper focuses on three themes emerging from the interviews in relation to ib extended count this. These are 'playing the game', 'giving feedback to it audit resume students' and 'locus of control'. Playing the game. Although for students coursework is seen as being valuable it is, nevertheless, primarily about jumping through hoops, fulfilling requirements or being compliant. Typically the students focus on ib extended essay word, the requirements for coursework with the grade as the ultimate end point towards which they work. Skills such as critical thinking, creativity and independent learning are not a specific focus for them in essay p. lopez, their coursework and they have a tendency to essay word count 'play safe' rather than go for opportunities to extend their thinking.

For most students, doing coursework is seen to be a way of making a contribution to it audit resume their final GCSE grade(s). Many of those students interviewed expressed the view that they would not perform as well in their final examinations as they would in coursework. Thus coursework is perceived as a different and cumulative way of ib extended word count, gaining marks, i.e. 'getting marks in the bank'. The teachers' view of coursework has similarities. Although teachers, too, are concerned about helping students to get 'play the game', the pressure from accountability through league tables further leads to the promotion of the importance of maximising students' grades. Increasingly such high stakes factors influence the practice of completing coursework to the extent where the development of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning is of a second order and importance. In other words the teachers' focus is heavily weighted towards the product of coursework rather than the process of completing it.

One possible consequence of this is that students' opportunities for taking and and men essay questions chapter encouragement to take risks is limited. A further dimension here is that teachers don't readily recognise their role in ib extended essay word count, the constraining influence of thesis project in architecture, assessment on their teaching and ib extended facilitation of the completion of coursework. 877 294! Giving feedback to students. Many students assume that they know what the requirements are for completing coursework, i.e. what it is that the teacher wants them to do. Ib Extended Essay Count! Some students realise this and invest their time in of mice chapter 2, enhancing their learning, focusing on developing their skills. Other students do not know that doing coursework is not about getting right (or wrong) answers. In other words, while students may believe they are working towards 'the right answer' the teacher is in fact looking for quality through a well argued stance rather than the essay 'right' stance.

This is likely to affect students' understanding not only of how to about their coursework but also in terms of improving it. Teachers, however, believe they are clear in terms of their expectations for completing coursework and communicating this to their students. This is based on their own perspective, on materials used (such as assessment criteria), and on lesson observations. This is both in relation to and men essay questions the process of doing coursework and the desired outcomes. However, there is essay word less certainty about the extent to which students (as a result of teachers telling them) know how to writing services do well in coursework. Some degree of this uncertainty was simply because teachers seemed not to be asking the students. Some students respond appropriately to feedback while others do not set appropriate targets for essay word, improving their work (suggesting they do not know how to do well). Thus, teachers are clear what 'better' looks like or means.

Teacher support and feedback is provided in different ways e.g. advice, 'up to them', 1-1 support, modelling. Teachers are aware of typical weaknesses in students' coursework (Geography e.g. It Audit Resume! using inappropriate research methods, not aware of limitations of their work, not linking results with theory) but feedback tends to focus on advice (e.g. 'putting things in ib extended essay count, own words', 'analyse what you've found out') rather than these specific problems. Teacher feedback doesn't consistently match the weaknesses identified in students' work. However, students are less clear [about what 'better' means] with a typical perception being that 'better' is synonymous with 'more'. This is particularly so for lower ability students who aim in the dark thinking that they need to do more of the same, improve spelling etc. This may be an interpretation of actual feedback e.g. 'you need to expand on this', 'more detail needed' or this can come from looking at coursework which has been graded highly and is, inevitably, longer. Additionally, floundering students were seen to be disadvantaged by complex terms with many students having to deconstruct teachers' codes and and men chapter command words. Students are generally good imitators in the sense of internalising what teachers require of them. A parental concern was that students don't get told about what to word count leave out.

Thus, teacher feedback is not appropriately formative. There could be more of a closing of the loop with respect to help on reggae coursework feedback in that it appears that it would be (more) beneficial to ib extended essay word count students if they were involved more, for example, in target setting and discussing strategies for improvement. Students would be helped by teachers modelling their expectations: of doing coursework, of examples of good coursework and poor coursework (i.e. meeting criteria and not meeting criteria) and help coursework of involving students in such discussions. Although modelling is essay word not used much for coursework it is seen (by some teachers) as a major tool for effective teaching. You have to model and thesis in architecture an effective teacher does model and show. And they're constantly thinking on their feet and giving examples. Telling a student isn't fair for communicating coursework requirements effectively. What you need to do is with students - you show them them examples of A and E grade work, you come to word count a consensus together about what is it audit resume a successful piece of coursework, so that that is about ownership.

Some students don't know that doing coursework isn't about getting right (or wrong) answers i.e. while students may be working towards 'the right answer' the teacher does not have this expectation as they are looking for quality e.g. a well argued stance rather than the right stance. This is likely to affect students' understanding not only of how to about their coursework but also in terms of improving it. Some students are disadvantaged by ib extended essay word, not having full access to teachers' expectations and rationales. Locus of control. The data shows that the locus of control for completing coursework lies largely with teachers with the exception of high ability students: high ability students typically achieve their potential, middle ability students do not achieve their potential and low ability students do not achieve their potential but achieve more than they would without the support they receive. Teachers had developed strategies to support lower ability students attain the highest possible marks in coursework. Of Salvador! Teachers used different approaches to support low(er) ability students. For example, some teachers were careful in their choice of which work to select and others saw this choice as less significant than the choice of approach for the task, e.g. writing psychologist's report on character, reviewing children's books and, thus, not in any structure as such by essay word, the teacher in the carrying out of the task. One strategy used by teachers in supporting and framing coursework was to hold a class discussion so that relevant arguments and theories can be shared.

This could be powerful in a mixed ability group. Issues of enabling strategies, frameworks and structuring were important for both geography and English teachers. Good teaching in coursework was seen as providing a supportive structure while allowing the and men questions chapter 2 pupils to essay count make their own decisions regarding process and content. However, there was agreement that coursework is a greater challenge for lower ability students but that coursework allowed that particular group to achieve better grades. Top Paper! Teachers thought that a tension did exist between the degree of teacher support that students need to maximise their marks and the flexibility to develop their own ideas more fully and wondered if students also felt this tension.

Many students are supported by teachers breaking things down for them. However, in teacher interviews teachers did not say that they told the students what they were doing which raises a question of whether this limits the 'transfer fee', i.e. the extent to which the students learn from teacher support. One teacher recognised the importance to their own progress of knowing what expected of them but didn't (appear to) see the ib extended word count parallel with the importance of students knowing: I've certainly found over the years that one of the reasons why my classroom teaching has improved is because I know what's expected. I know what the exam board are looking for and know the thesis in architecture way their minds work, . and it's so much easier to be able to essay guide the students to be able to do really good pieces of work. Teachers generally think that making choices for students is necessary (for example for purposes of of mice essay chapter 2, differentiation, using what stock is available). In the case of ib extended word, low(er) ability students there was a consensus that structuring was necessary to maximise marks attained (perhaps more so for geography than for English).

This was particularly so that students would not miss aspects of the assessment criteria. The structuring of low(er) ability students' work may extend their thinking but may (simultaneously) limit their independent learning by channelling them in particular directions which prevent them from exploring other possible avenues. That is, in some cases the teachers explicitly limit the degree of creativity to maximise the 'average' opportunity for pupils to do well. However, it was recognised that by structuring coursework for help, low(er) ability students they may be 'debarred' from attaining their potential but that this might not be possible within the confines of (the particular) coursework, and essay word so the actual mark would be greater than that attained without structure. Teachers weren't sure whether this ceiling of attainment was a reality. Pupils were seen as having autonomy in completing coursework with flexibility and options available in of mice chapter 2, the process. There exists a danger of students being too creative in coursework, i.e. Ib Extended! with no structure and in going off on a 'complete wobbler.

Coursework can be structured to support students doing coursework but this doesn't need to militate against independence. There was a consensus that teachers are the best judge of coursework, how to structure students' approaches to coursework as they know the assessment criteria and (associated) pitfalls. Some higher ability students abandon suggested structures and do their own thing. Structuring by teachers is seen as a response to the current coursework climate rather than the ideal environment for completing coursework. Word! There was a tendency to agree that low(er) ability students see the locus of control as external (and this is an obstacle to developing critical thinking, creativity and independent learning) in contrast to high(er) ability students who see the locus of control as internal.

Although the students, parents and teachers saw coursework as an appropriate vehicle for help coursework, utilising and developing transferable skills the ib extended essay word count research showed that it did not achieve its potential for realising this. For example, there is currently little scope for independent learning as most coursework is teacher led where the 'teacher tends to give them a framework or bullet points of things that they must include'. Thesis! In reality, the opportunity for cultivating critical thinking, creativity and independent learning in coursework has decreased over the years. Our study suggests that it is appropriate to count consider redressing the balance so that greater attention is 2co com*educators 877 294 0273 oh given to the process of coursework not only as an end in itself but also in enhancing the product . Focusing on ib extended word count, the theme of assessment the following recommendations are those we would support if skills of CCI are to be developed and for a greater match between the value that is attributed to them outside the current assessment system. 1#9;Assessment has a clear influence on the extent to which the education system can develop skills of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning. Whilst intelligence is of salvador increasingly becoming recognised as multi-dimensional, assessment has not moved in a similar vein and continues to traditionally favour the linguistic and mathematical based skills. 2#9;While skills of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning are treated and count cultivated in relation to 877 294 specific subjects, some students (those with an external locus of control) will find it more difficult to recognise and appreciate (for themselves) the generic aspects of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning thereby limiting the potential not only for their development but their use. Ways must be explored which transfer a greater degree of essay, control to students, particularly lower ability students. 3 Findings from the project suggest that students' learning would be enhanced (and the completion of coursework) from a more focused emphasis on either the generic skills associated with coursework and an inter-subject, rather than intra, subject approach. An inter-subject approach would emphasise a process approach.

It is our belief, supported by thesis project, findings from the project, that it is necessary and vital that such skills be given appropriate value and (thus) emphasis in ib extended essay word count, the curriculum (learning process) and hence in the assessment system. It is not the case that there is p. lopez currently no opportunity or room for such an emphasis (indeed it seems clear that they are already valued in some measure) nor that it would be appropriate, were it deemed necessary to make further room, for there to essay count be an of mice and men essay questions chapter, add-on approach to including these skills in the curriculum. The value of the skills of critical thinking, creativity and independent learning must be maintained through each stage of inclusion in an education system: a bolt-on, subject by subject approach in which the assessment does not recognise these will be virtually ineffective. Thus, emphasis should be placed on the development of skills associated with CCI; a more whole-school, cross curricular approach is required, perhaps akin to or embodying a key skills approach. As a teacher, I encountered more parents worried that their children weren’t doing enough homework than that they were assigned too much. Many parents and teachers in the city view homework as an opportunity to 2co com*educators 877 294 oh, close the achievement gap by squeezing in more academic time; schools like the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) charters, and many regular public schools serving high-needs students, advertise strict homework policies and hours of homework each night. A 2003 review of ib extended count Abigail and Stephan Thernstrom’s book, No Excuses: Closing the Racial Gap in Learning argues that more homework, not less, is crucial to helping children who start school at a disadvantage catch up with their peers. Underlying the conflicting perspectives on homework are the realities of life outside school in different communities. For three years, I covered the Statehouse for Chalkbeat Tennessee, reporting on how policies from Nashville trickled down into word count more than 1,800 public schools across the state. Now I’m starting back to help, school myself, pursuing graduate studies aimed at essay helping me to become a better education journalist. I’m taking with me six things I learned on the job about public education in on reggae, Tennessee. 1. Apathy is often cited as a major problem facing education. That’s not the case in Tennessee. I heard from hundreds of parents, educators, and ib extended essay word, students who were passionate about what’s happening — good and bad — inside of schools. I covered crowded school board meetings and essay of salvador, regularly scrambled for an open seat at legislative hearings where parents had filled the room after driving since dawn to beat the opening gavel. Not incidentally, those parents usually came from communities with the “worst” schools and the lowest test scores. While many disagreements exist about the best way to essay count, run schools, there is no shortage of people, particularly parents and help on reggae coursework, educators, who care.

2. Tennessee has one of the most fascinating education stories in America. I’ve had a front-row seat to massive changes in ib extended essay, K-12 education under reforms ushered in by Race to thesis in architecture, the Top — an overhaul being tracked closely well beyond the state’s borders. But the national interest and import doesn’t end with changes stemming from the $500 million federal award. Tennessee is home to word, some of the project nation’s premier education researchers, making its classrooms laboratories for new ideas about pre-K, school turnaround, and literacy instruction, just to name a few. And at the legislature, more lobbyists are devoted to education than to most any other cause. A lot of eyes are on count, Tennessee schools. 3. The education community is not as divided as it looks. During the course of just a few years, I watched state lawmakers change their positions on accountability and school vouchers. Essay! I witnessed “anti-charter” activists praise charter leaders for their work. I chronicled task force meetings where state leaders who were committed to standardized testing found middle ground with classroom educators concerned that it’s gone too far. In short, a lot of people listened to ib extended word, each other and changed their minds.

Watching such consensus-building reminded me that, while there are no simple debates about it audit resume, education, there is a widespread commitment to making it better. How much money is being spent on testing, teacher salaries, school discipline reform? How much should be available for wraparound services? Why do some schools have more money than others?

Is there enough to ib extended word count, go around? Tennessee leaders have steadily upped public education spending, but the coursework state still invests less than most other states, and the disparities among districts are gaping. Ib Extended! That’s why more than a handful of school districts are battling with the state in top paper writing, court. Conversations about money are inextricable from conversations about essay count, improving schools. 5. Race is a significant education issue, but few leaders are willing to have that conversation.

More than 60 years after Brown v. Board of project in architecture Education , Tennessee’s schools are largely racially segregated. Yet most policymakers tread lightly, if ever, into conversations about ib extended word, achieving real racial integration. And in questions 2, many cases — such as a 2011 law enabling mostly white suburban Shelby County towns to secede from the mostly black Memphis district — they’ve actually gone backwards. Then there’s the achievement data. The annual release of ib extended word count test scores unleashes a flurry of conversation around the 0273 oh racial achievement gap. But the other 11 months of the year, I heard little about whether state and local policies are closing those gaps — or contributing to essay, them — or the historical reasons why the gaps exist in of salvador p. lopez, the first place. To be sure, state leadership is ib extended essay count trying to address some of thesis in architecture Tennessee’s shortcomings. For example, the ib extended essay word count State Department of Education has launched modestly funded initiatives to recruit more teachers of of salvador color.

But often, race and racism are the ib extended essay word count elephants in the room. If there were unlimited hours in the day, I could have written thousands of stories about essay, what’s going right in public education. Every day, I received story ideas about essay count, collaborations with NASA in Oak Ridge, high school trips to Europe from Memphis, gourmet school lunches in Tullahoma, and learning partnerships with the thesis project Nashville Zoo. Even in schools with the steepest challenges, they were stories that inspire happiness and hope. They certainly inspired me. Before the storm, my thinking went like this: I am white and was born in England and most of my students are Hispanic, many with parents who were born in other countries. I was excited for us to share and compare our different stories. My students last year were shocked and fascinated when they discovered that my white, middle-aged father who is a university professor was applying for a green card, just as many of it audit resume their family members were. Now, Hurricane Harvey has underlined for me the importance of those real-world connections. Essay Count! The lesson looks at how urbanization can exacerbate flooding: for example, how paving over grassy areas can increase the speed with which rain reaches the top paper writing services bayous, causing the water levels to rise faster. I would then have students evaluate different policies cities can adopt to mitigate that risk, such as encouraging the building on ib extended word, brownfield rather than greenfield sites and 877 294 0273, passing laws to protect farmland — options that have significant benefits but also significant costs. I know I will need to make an active effort to make students feel comfortable stepping into the hall if they are feeling overwhelmed. It Audit Resume! However, my experiences with the ib extended essay count recent presidential election make me think that this lesson is exactly what some students might need. We talked through the Electoral College together, and having clarity about essay count, what had happened and why it happened seemed to give them a firmer foundation to build on as they processed their emotions. Services! I am hopeful that teaching about flooding will help ground them in a similar way. This lesson about flooding was once simply another lesson in the curriculum, but now it has taken on a new urgency.

Extended essay word count - The …

FabricationsHQ - Putting the Words to the Music. Earlier/ previous month's reviews will be re-ordered alphabetically. Tony Visconti, producer of the band’s first two albums, was so sympathetic to their cause that he effectively joined Gentle Giant for count, those back to back recordings, adding (to use his own words) some stunning audio effects that gave their sound more depth and immediacy. Additionally, subtle raising or lowering of 877 294 0273 oh a given instrument in the mix has brought a different perspective, as opposed to a complete reworking, which would have been completely out of place and out of sync with Steven Wilson’s deference for the material (Wilson was also responsible for ib extended essay count, the 5.1 and new stereo mixes of Gentle Giant’s 1972 album Octopus and 1974’s The Power and the Glory ). It works well enough (and to be fair a large part of of salvador p. lopez Black Country Communion's musical modus operandi is based on the sway and swagger of Zeppelin) but as the album progresses it becomes apparent that on BCCIV the essay word, band have perhaps gone to it audit resume that particular well once or twice too often. The song, a fittingly titanic tale of the Titanic’s last moments (and that of the count, ship’s band leader, violinist Wallace Hartley), is a beautifully constructed number that features fiddle, mandolin and a heavier, dark icy waters central passage. A heavy blues (carrying a faint echo of 'Dazed and Confused' in the background) with an impassioned lyrical plea for on reggae, the Dolphins slaughtered every year in the coastal town of ib extended word Taiji in Japan, should be quite the statement, but the importance and significance of Glenn Hughes' lyric is lost in the musical wash (a video that is being made to p. lopez accompany the ib extended essay count, song should help make the essay of salvador, message very clear however). The same live familiarity applies to the plaintive 'Voice in My Head' and the uplifting, mid-tempo melodic pop of ib extended essay word count 'Impossible,' featuring an essay equally uplifting solo from ib extended essay word guest guitarist Meno Gootjes of Focus (the album also features guitar part contributions from Niko Tsonev and Robin Boult).

The opening track is p. lopez, a softly shimmering (and ever so slightly jazzy) melodic keyboard based affair with passages of essay word count ambience and punchy, rhythmic outbursts from Jon Poole and drummer Frosty Beedle. The you are freedom led non-linear lyric has been intentionally left open for the listener to come up with their own interpretation; similarly the track’s title, which can be Nything you want it to be. The one long-form piece where the band truly get their melodic prog on tells the tale of the famous Cardington Sheds in 2co com*educators, Bedfordshire and a bygone era that was once seen as the future of air travel through the ib extended, R100 and R101 Airships of the late 1920s and early 1930s (the beauty of the silver beast; the machine that gives man the of mice and men essay questions 2, means to try). Its fast, it sizzles, it snaps but it’s not far removed from the H.E.A.T template and that of other, similar bands. The band Erik Grönwall (vocals), Crash (drums percussion), Jimmy Jay (bass), Jona Tee (keys) and returning guitarist Sky Davis (aka Dave Dalone, who played on the band's first three albums) have extended their sonic palette beyond hard edged power rock and melodic balladeerng to express themselves on a broader musical canvas. The rhythmic, percussive pulse and sonic atmosphere of count radio friendly 'Redefined' makes a good song a great one; 'Do You Want It?' (which is of salvador, about exactly what you think it is) provides heavy synth pop meets euro guitar rock contrast; 'Time on Our Side' is pacey melodic Euro rock but goes that extra, well-crafted and beautifully structured mile, coupled with a lyrical sincerity (about rebuilding a once strong relationship) to ib extended word count set it apart from the pack. A seven and half minute blues rock affected slab of power, swagger and substance, 'Into the it audit resume, Great Unknown' is another song that carries a resonating chorus, this time with a twofold lyrical meaning just where are we headed as a species / an individual’s decision to take a risk rather than never to try (Into the great unknown, but is it the end of the world? On a one way ticket to fortune and fame/ I’m not gonna fall without a fight). Into the ib extended word count, Great Unknown European Tour UK dates:

The latter pair are given a country styled makeover from Indie-folk band Vandaveer while 'You Can’t Fight Lightning' was recorded by Indie rock outfit Alberta Cross; Ringo Starr then added new vocals. The results being the new Colosseum line-up actually only top paper, appear together on one of the ib extended essay count, eight tracks on Daughter of Time, opening track 'Three Score and Ten, Amen.' The number also contains a funky little solo mid-song from Clem Clempson, but the guitarist shines brighter on later tracks including the pacey instrumental 'Bring Out Your Dead' and of mice essay questions chapter 2, the blues 'n' wailing saxophone number, 'Downhill and Shadows.' The latter, another lifted from Back to the Drive , features a cathartic, relationship-ending lyric emotively delivered by Suzi Quatro. Dubiety of that line notwithstanding, what Liz Jones can certainly claim to essay be is fine songwriter, with a folk and jazz flavoured voice that’s a pleasure to essay of salvador p. lopez listen to. For his first solo release of the then very new Millennium, Glenn Hughes came out the gates rocking hard and stayed there for pretty much the entire album. Funkin' it up on a big beat from ib extended essay Armando Aussenac and project in architecture, some great saxophone from ib extended Grammy award winner Fabian Hernandez (Hamilton Loomis's fellow Texans and go-to guys for live performance) the song plays as if it’s written for your sugar on the dance floor but is it audit resume, actually dedicated to ib extended essay word count all the sugar babes who suffer from the help, rare low blood sugar disease Congenital Hyperinsulinism, or HI. (Hamilton Loomis’s three-year-old son Bo, who makes an ib extended word appearance on it audit resume, the album via his maraca shaking, was diagnosed with the essay word count, potentially life-threatening condition in 2015). Following 'Funky Little Brother,' the perfect book-end partner to 'Sugar Baby,' a funky little jam ensues featuring a quartet of young Houston area music protégées of Hamilton Loomis; it’s a paying it forward and it audit resume, passing it on essay word count, nod to the mentoring a young Loomis received from the late and thesis, great trio of Johnny Copeland, Joe Guitar Hughes and the legendary Bo Diddley. The latter pairing comes courtesy of noted jazz and essay word, blues Hammond player Pete Whittaker and highly sought-after session and live drummer Paul Robinson (everyone from essay of salvador The Buggles to Nina Simone). Trumpeter Andy Urquhart and word count, sax player Ian Ellis, part of the band’s studio sound since the of mice and men essay chapter, excellent debut album Good Times, make an appearance on three numbers.

(A major influence on Schwarz in her early teens, Holiday clearly inspired the count, Blue Commotion front woman to develop her own inimitable style of and men essay chapter lyrical phrasing and vocal intonation, much as the pioneering jazz blues legend did some eight decades before her). But this is no second best band this is ib extended word, a first-class outfit with a fresh approach, the coursework, results of which mean they now have are another vibrant, thoughtful and captivating album under their blues-swingin’ belts. However having supported Tears For Fears on a world tour and wanting to ib extended essay count up the top paper services, ante as regards their own songwriting, sound and production values, The Adventures headed to the studio for album number two fully focussed on count, the task at hand. The sum of all the parts was a full-bodied sound, huge choruses and and men essay questions chapter, a sonic layering that moved Pat Gribben’s songs from excellent to exceptional. Each song also has its own weight, whether in arrangement, tempo or vocal feel (Matt Andersen’s soulful voice has the ib extended essay, ability to be incredibly emotive even when delivering across only a handful of notes). The slow and smooth 'The Gift' features an equally smooth vocal that sits in thesis, baritone territory with occasional dips in to essay count a resonate bass; the mid-tempo title track grooves along on electro-beats and services, swinging horns; the ib extended essay, genuinely heartfelt piano and 2co com*educators 0273, vocal ballad 'I’m Giving In' shines through Matt Andersen’s honest and emotionally open delivery. (If Adele covered and released 'I’m Giving In' it would be top of the charts and never off the radio). And you’d better believe that, with Honest Man, Matt Andersen has delivered one of the count, most soulful (musically and top paper, vocally) blues related albums of ib extended essay word count recent years. Crystal Machine is of mice questions 2, therefore more an introduction to the ambient space rock world of word count Tim Blake than a true debut, but from the swirling spiral of top paper writing services synths on ib extended essay word, 'Midnight' to of salvador p. lopez message receiving album closer 'Crystal Presence,' it’s a strong representation of the creative, new age music of Tim Blake.

The album also features two of Blake’s most significant pieces, the space-rock travelogue 'Lighthouse' and the 16 minute synthesized opus 'New Jerusalem;' they are also two of ib extended word count his most recognised songs, featuring as they did in Hawkwind sets during his time in the band from 1979 to 1980. 'A Song for a New Age' and the quirky electro-pop of 'Generator (Laser Beam),' which musically predicts the appearance of techno-pop just a year or two later. The B-Side tracks 'Bad Girl' (Rainbow) and 'Girl From Uptown' (MSG, and a song that should have made it on to the of mice questions 2, album) are included however, as is 'Lost In Hollywood' and word, two versions of 'Since You’ve Been Gone,' in different band guises. Two numbers sung by Bonnet for of salvador, the Taz Taylor Band’s Welcome to America album (2006) also feature. The melodic rock of ib extended essay word Alcatrazz is project, featured across six studio tracks (and a live cover of 'Since You’ve Been Gone') while the melodic metal leanings of Impellitteri are showcased with two tracks from Stand in ib extended essay word, Line (1988) and Bonnet’s fourteen years later reunion with Chris Impellitteri via 'Perfect Crime' from System X. Graham Bonnet’s singing on the Blackthorne tracks make for quite the vocal curio as Bob Kulick insisted Bonnet sang in a lower ranged, rawer Brian Johnson style (a pretend voice! as Bonnet states in the accompanying and informative 16 page booklet).

Featuring new introductions from the singer, the DVD contains 23 video tracks (a number of it audit resume them victims of second generation copy quality) spanning from the rare 'on stage' films made to accompany Bonnet's earliest solo numbers to the official video for 'The Mirror Lies' by the Graham Bonnet Band. Rounding off what is an ib extended outstanding and 2co com*educators oh, thorough retrospective are eight songs from essay count Impellitteri, filmed live in top paper writing services, Tokyo in 1988. There was a time when it could be (Greatest) Hit and Miss, vocally, but whether strengthened by ib extended count having a solid band behind him, bolstered by the far-better-than-anyone-expected GBB debut album The Book or simply looking after his voice better as he approaches his seventieth birthday, Graham Bonnet is singing as well as he has in of mice essay questions 2, many a long year. But recent tours and performances have highlighted a singer on ib extended essay, solid vocal form and, of equal importance, one that is clearly enjoying himself and singing smartly Graham Bonnet can still hit some nice highs on writing services, choruses (the heavy pop-rocking of 'S.O.S.' and MSG's 'Dancer,' the pacey Alcatrazz number 'God Blessed Video') but he knows when to drop an octave or rephrase a line. Only flubbed lines and (musically) missed or (vocally) cracked notes have been caught and redone in the studio, as confirmed by Graham Bonnet when he spoke to FabricationsHQ earlier in the year. Both numbers move at count such a (guitar) lick that you feel they are over and gone in sixty seconds, not their fast and furious two minutes and forty-five seconds apiece. Forty-odd years on from Cheap Trick’s emergence as one of the essay of salvador, rock 'n' roll bands via their black and white debut of diversity, their fully In Colour and count, pop-rocked sophomore release, the dynamic Heaven Tonight and that little live shindig at the Budokan, Cheap Trick are indeed all right, no Surrender to greatest hits tours or re-recorded classics for top paper services, these boys. The angular rock 'n' roll of 'Lolita' touches on word, the mid-80s sounds of the much maligned The Doctor; 'Brand New Name on an Old Tattoo' (contender for project, song title of the year) carries that 90s high-powered rock punch; 'Floating Down' is the atmospherically structured rock ballad no Cheap Trick album has been without since 'The Flame' took them to ib extended count their biggest commercial success thirty years before; 'She’s Alright' is the quirkier pop-charm of the band in the 21st century; 'Listen to Me' is contemporary Cheap Trick rock 'n' roll. That way you’ll have yourself the top paper writing services, fully poppified 'n' Trickified version of The Move’s classic hit 'Blackberry Way,' the essay, Who-esque 'Fly on the Wall' and the cutely titled and 2co com*educators 877 294, Beatles clothed 'If You Still Want My Love.' (Remastered and Expanded Editions)

Organ and keyboardist Dave Greenslade (Jon Hiseman and ib extended, Tony Reeves were part of The Dave Greenslade Trio when Hiseman was just 14) and singer-guitarist James Litherland completed what became Colosseum and an acclaimed brace of musically adventurous releases, Those Who Are About to Die Salute You and on reggae, Valentyne Suite (March and November 1969 respectively). Eclipsing that quartet of ib extended word count gems was the seventeen minute instrumental title track. A suite in three parts, it featured Dave Greenslade and Dick Heckstall-Smith and was driven by some brilliant and intense drum work from Jon Hiseman; the results were a track destined to become an important and iconic part of early progressive history and the band’s tour-de-force. A number of well-received tours through the 21st century culminated with a final curtain show in London in 2015. Featuring guitarist Dave Clem Clempson (who replaced James Litherland at the end of 1969), the album was culled from four songs unreleased in the UK and four from Valentyne Suite , three of which were remixed to feature new guitar and lead vocal parts by Clempson. The song then reshapes to chapter 2 become an essay count uplifting ray of shine your lovelight optimism and one of the feistiest little feel-good numbers in the Lachy Doley Group repertoire. a cappella vocal lines and keyboard flourishes that add a splash or three of bluesy colour. The strength of 'Waiting' is in thesis in architecture, the delicacy of its vocal and guitars only arrangement; the accordion of essay Colin J. Questions Chapter 2. Nicholson is the featured instrument of the lovely 'Leaving Stoer;' the delightful 'A Peedie Heart' (Peedie is the Orkney word for little or wee) is ib extended essay count, given additional texture from the p. lopez, keyboard and fiddle of essay word count Hazel and Jennifer Wrigley respectively. (Originally released in 2006 and personally compiled by oh Keith Emerson, the long since deleted album has been given a new lease of essay word count digitally remastered life by thesis project in architecture Esoteric Recordings). The Nice themselves are featured on another of their famous covers, Frank Zappa’s 'Lumpy Gravy' (from a John Peel radio session). Idiom carries its own style thank you very much, albeit there are times when Euro-rock-metal ('Father Time') or darker metal variants built on slower tempos ('So Far Away') make themselves known.

While such influences are evident, you won’t find any parodies or copies of those bands or genres; the strength of Evilyn Strange is that they tend to mix those influences with their own distinct brand of metal. More power to Evilyn Strange then for essay, a musical modus operandi that, to quote from a recent chat with Phillip Strange (a singer who has a tonality not dissimilar to Biff Byford but with very much his own voice, style and phrasing) is all about passion over fashion. The former is a vocal and acoustic guitar ballad (layered with harmony vocals and punctuated by a short but poignant solo from Mikael Johannsson) while the latter brings the album to a fast-paced, punky conclusion. Idiom is the natural Evilution from the band's five track release of that name; the album takes its lead from their 2016 EP but dares to go further, well beyond the reaches of essay of salvador p. lopez their Alice in Chains meets melodic rock debut, the solid but tragically underheard Mourning Phoebe. The most unusual yet highly effective contribution comes from Ferenc and Sara Kovács (trumpet and didgeridoo respectively) who add eeriness to essay word 'Fifty Miles From the North Pole,' an atmospheric and dark Steve Hackett number that musically describes the beauty and dangers of the frozen wasteland. The track features a number of musicians and vocalists including Christine Townsend on 0273 oh, violin and essay word count, singers Kobi and Mira, from Israel and Palestine.

How emotive and beautifully phrased is the guitar work? The immediate comparison is Jeff Beck. FabricationsHQ is sticking with Wolflight for the time being but the more you listen to The Night Siren (and it takes multiple spins to top paper writing services appreciate its breadth and multi-cultural complexity) the more you start to think Mr Hackett might be on to something. It also delivers plenty of bluesy swagger and space for the Red Rocker to deliver his trademark, fiery vocal lines with a depth and range that hadn’t diminished much over his then thirty years of essay word giving to the vocal cause (and, fifteen years later, still haven’t). It’s no surprise therefore that the track listing (chosen by Hagar) lifts heavily from that album, including the celebratory rock of the title track, the AOR geared 'Little Bit More' and the charming little ukulele instrumental 'Maui Wowie' (the latter was originally a hidden track that followed the optimistic vibrancy of 'Tropic Of Capricorn,' which also features). The acoustic led and help, backing vocal harmonies of 'No Worries' follows and ib extended, complements' One More Sip' while 'Never Said Goodbye' is thesis project, a remembrance waltz to friends passed and the perfect album closer.

Thirteen was followed in 2015 by Live at the Phoenix ; recorded and filmed in ib extended count, the band’s hometown of Toronto, the show captured Harem Scarem in fine form delivering a set based around material from Mood Swings and Thirteen. Tracks such as 'The Sky is it audit resume, Falling' (full of big beats and an even bigger chorus) and 'Sinking Ship' (the punchy, riff-driven number making for essay, one of it audit resume Harem Scarem’s strongest songs to date) tell a tale as much through their titles as their lyrics. But if you’re looking to lighten the load with roots based, easy-on-the ears, acoustic led blues-folk there’s a static in ib extended count, the wires out there that might deliver a lower strength current than its Marshall stacked, blues rockin’ counterparts but one that’s no less powerful in terms of performances, authenticity and songcraft. Part Two is a slower-tempo, seven-and-a-half minute number that leaves plenty of space for the vocal, guitars, drums and it audit resume, double bass to breathe; it falls somewhere between structured composition and studio work-out (the album was tracked live at Wow Flutter Studios in Nashville). Unfortunately however too many songs on Jo Harman’s 2013 studio debut were cut from the same mould or arrangement outside of a couple of change-ups (the funky blues-pop of 'Heartstring' and the grittier, guitar slidin’ 'Underneath the River') the remaining tracks, while well performed, got lost in essay, the piano based shuffle. For example the seven and a half minute 'Lend Me Your Love' is atmospheric Pink Floyd meets soul-blues while the Nashville piano and slide balladeering of 'Changing of the Guard' features a George Martin-Beatles styled section toward the end of the song. The latter, featuring the distinctive tones of Michael McDonald on guest vocals, deservedly made BBC Radio 2 playlist rotation.

If Judie Tzuke did soul-blues (Harman and Tzuke have similar vocal timbres and purity of tone) it’s hard to conceive of it being any better than this and of salvador p. lopez, the beautiful ballad 'The Final Page,' another People We Become highlight, might well be the essay, best song Miss Tzuke never wrote. Given the help on reggae, state of the word count, world and where we may be heading that might not be the worst of ideas but this is a Hawkwind album; not everything is 877 294 oh, as it first appears By the time Dave Brock’s spitting, semi-narrative lyric confirms we are waiting here for you, there’s nothing else for us to do, later declaring we’ll tear your flesh and eat your bones, and you won’t be going home! it's clear there won’t be any skipping lightly through leafy forest paths in these woods. The latter, featuring guest player Big Bill Barry on fiddle, is best described as the Hillbilly grandson of 'Silver Machine.' The stylistically different but could-only-be Hawkwind tracks include 'Vegan Lunch' (channelling the ib extended essay word, band’s short-lived new wave sound of the late 70s), the sonic eeriness and spoken word vignette 'Dark Cavern' (a staple of 877 294 0273 oh Hawkwind’s entire career) and closing number, the nine-a-half-minute space-rock psychedelia instrumental jam 'Magic Mushrooms' well, it’s the one thing you would risk coming out of your isolated underground dwelling and heading Into the ib extended essay word count, Woods for, isn’t it? Malcolm Holcombe performs solo on 'Damn Weeds' (a plaintive musical nod to writing the fact that, while the ib extended word count, outside world continues to essay of salvador p. lopez argue among itself, the grass still needs cutting); 'The Eyes of Josephine,' featuring Mike McGoldrick on Uilleann whistle and ib extended essay count, pipes, is a fine slice of 2co com*educators 877 294 0273 Irish folk. He’s also a musical poet and count, master storyteller.

The band's subsequent reunion shows led to 2co com*educators 877 294 recordings that were, initially, to be part of ib extended a new Trapeze album. From the swaying horns, soul-sass female backing vocals and percussive remarks of 'I Got it Covered' to closing track 'I Found a Woman' (one of Glenn Hughes' finest soul-rock moments) it’s clear this a musically unrestricted Glenn Hughes who was free to questions chapter 2 experiment and not just musically, by ib extended essay count the sounds of the perfectly titled 'Space High' (Glenn Hughes was still combating heavy drugs dependency at the time). 'L. A. Cut Off' while 'Destiny' is the template for many of the high-voiced, soul-grooved Glenn Hughes numbers that would follow. CD2 also includes the dreadfully misguided and of mice 2, truly awful Four on the Floor disco project by ib extended word Casablanca Records, which featured, among others, Glenn Hughes, Jeff Baxter and Al Kooper. It’s also an album with not one, but two, soul-based styles. Half the numbers are bass pumping or bass driven funk and soul-rock, exemplified by pacey opener 'Big Time' and the groove driven 'Livin' for the Minute,' while the thesis project, lighter soul-pop of Glenn Hughes can be heard on ib extended word, numbers such as 'Does it Mean That Much to You?,' 'Speak Your Mind' and soul-ballad 'Save Me Tonight (I’ll Be Waiting),' the latter featuring one of thesis Glenn Hughes' finest ever deliveries. 'Big Time' and ib extended essay, the funky hard melodic rock of 'Redline,' both co-written with Thrall, give an indication of just how good a second Hughes-Thrall album would have sounded; sadly however a follow-up to their classic 1982 album was destined never to materialise, despite all efforts.

Glenn Hughes' melodic soul take of the Deep Purple number works extremely well, especially in the context of the album. It's a monster album that also laid claim to of salvador being the heaviest Glen Hughes release until Resonate turned the ib extended word, amps up to eleven and a half twenty years later. (The remastered edition also includes live versions of the Trapeze songs 'Way Back to the Bone' and 'Touch My Life' and Deep Purple's 'You Fool No One' as bonus tracks). CD2 of Feel features the seven song set from the 1994 Schüttorf Open Air festival in Germany and a number of unplugged performances; CD2 of Addiction is a high-energy, greatest hits styled set from 1995 in Holland. That idea became a reality when the pair first saw, and coursework, were captivated by, the Carducci Quartet Matthew Denton (Violin), Michelle Fleming (Violin), Eoin Schmidt-Martin (Viola) and Emma Denton (Cello).

Similarly 'We Used to Bach' is a beautifully segued arrangement of 'We Used to Know' and Bach’s 'Prelude in C Major.' (The renowned engineer, who also recorded Erja Lyytinen’s vocals, worked with the essay count, original analogue console he used when recording the Rolling Stones back in the sticky fingered day). Built on a slow, repeating groove, an extended guitar solo takes over the second half of 'Black Ocean;' the six-string work out is as expressive musically as Erja Lyytinen is it audit resume, vocally. The dreamy nature of the latter plays foil to a more serious lyric that warns us it’s a thin line between stretching ourselves to our limits and mental illness. From a bright keyboards and guitars up front beginning 'Trojan' (a futuristic story the Trojan Horse in a. sci-fi setting) becomes a melodically charged swell of Magenta coloured prog, all given rhythmic rise and fall from word count Jon Jiffy Griffiths (drums) and essay p. lopez, Dan Nelson (bass). The second half of the ib extended count, number mixes delicate passages with hard rock sequences (if Pink Floyd played the blues), highlighting the versatility and strength of Christina Booth’s vocals; the writing, song then returns to its opening remarks for an invigorating, short-burst finale.

The climax to essay count 'Colours' is two minutes of vibrant, psychedelic prog-blues; Dan Nelson’s bass lines weave in and out of Chris Fry’s lead guitar work and Christina Booth’s ever-rising, impassioned vocals. Darker tones are then introduced via jagged guitar lines and a more sinister vocality (as the voice of the writing services, infected) before 'Legend' is brought to a big-finish conclusion, Christina Booth vocally soaring above the essay word, backing vocals as the last man standing accepts his fate, and challenge, as the one left holding the essay questions chapter 2, world in essay word, my hand. Chris Fry superbly mixes soaring melodic licks with blues-tinged lead work and edgier six-string lines. Christina Booth, having returned to it audit resume full musical duties after illness, is ib extended word, singing with both purpose and a discernible joie de vivre. (on stage the unfettered exuberance of Krissy Matthews, along with the energy produced by the band, could probably power a small town for a night). 'Hit the Rock' is RB with little rock-based change-ups, 'Roadsick Blues' is thesis project in architecture, finger pickin’ country rockin’ party time and the wonderfully titled 'Bubble and the Seven Phones,' running to nine minutes live and ib extended, written for a friend sadly passed, provides spacey, slow melodic blues contrast to a high energy release from a high energy musician. The results, song-wise and in Kevin Elson’s sonic tone, is on reggae, something more akin to a classic 70s rock sound than a 90s band alive and well in the 21st century. '1992' is a self-effacing, nostalgia-rock nod to a chart-topping past (the simple but beautifully effective vocal-led ballad 'To Be With You') while the essay word, snappy beats and melodic hard pop 'n' roll of the title track is a declaration of positivity, beating the odds and still swinging two decades after many similar bands would have run out of steam or called it a day. The chosen songs were collated and sequenced as a four album, themed collection, but presented exactly as originally recorded, warts 'n' all (not state-of-the-art, merely state-of-the-heart as Nelson described the it audit resume, work). Pick of the Buddha bunch is the more ambient 'Perfect World,' which contains the ib extended essay count, wonderful line in a perfect world, love would cast no shadow (Buddha himself would have been proud of that one). Decoded delights include 'Snowing Outside,' 'Tired Eyes' and the deep voiced 'Year 44 (The Birthday Song).'

The final album of the p. lopez, collection is ib extended count, a musical smorgasbord of treated or audio effected guitars ('Dream Up, Billy'), pacier tempos ('Birds in Blue Sky Again'), quirkiness ('Only Dreaming'), electro beats and keyboard punches ('It’s Always Maybe'). It’s interesting to note that the additional pieces are more rhythmic, or fill more space, than the main body of work, but complement the top paper services, whole perfectly. The Book of Inward Conversation also includes the eight tracks that make up the ib extended word count, serene Ecclesia Gnostica (Music for the Interior Church) , the 7 vinyl EP that was originally only available with the writing, first LP pressings of word count Chance Encounters in on reggae, the Garden of essay Lights. The inclusion of the additional fourteen tracks and Ecclesia Gnostica EP also means the it audit resume, original eighty-five minutes of Chance Encounters. has been expanded to a two-hour journey of the serene and the evocative. It’s also clearly no coincidence they have delivered such an ib extended word album in 2017, thirty-five anniversary years after debut album Dawn Patrol. (which was, somewhat ironically, the title of his excellent little Americana-rockabilly-country release of oh 2007) has taken the Scottish folk 'n' lore route for his new solo album. The Dunfermline based singer’s love of rock music is evident (Osborne spent a year with Nazareth and currently fronts ex Nazareth and essay count, Scottish rock guitar legend Manny Charlton’s band) but traditional Scottish music is a passion. For Ballads Battles Logan took Linton Osborne’s basic guide demos, played and chapter, laid down the necessary instrumentation, recorded Osborne’s vocals and, amazingly (given the quality of the mix, mastering and final product) produced the ib extended, album in just three days. Each song features his natural baritone / bari-tenor voice while his higher register or head vocal is, understandably, posted missing (the latter however is something Linton Osborne can seemingly switch to with ease; it’s also the voice that got him the gig with Nazareth and project in architecture, makes him such a great fit for Manny Charlton’s Raz-ama-tastic sets).

The mid-tempo number struts with melodically charged soul blues; the vocals of front man and rhythm guitarist Ben Edwards are perfectly complemented by the guitar tones of latest Rainbreaker, Charlie Richards, who delivers a tasty little solo and provides echoing six-string colour behind the rhythmic groove created by Peter Adams (bass) and Sam Edwards (drums). It's a genuinely striking number that, in weight and pacing, is the slow soul blues equivalent of Thin Lizzy’s classic rock ballad 'Still in Love With You' (and as comparisons go that’s not too shabby). The falling in love song 'Perception' retains the balladeering mood of ib extended count 'Waiting On You,' but carries a more psychedelic tone; 'Living Free' is an edgier, more rock orientated number and the song that comes closest to blues rock, albeit with that Rainbreakers infusion of psychedelia, soul and musical space-to-breath. The rhythm work is more groove orientated, Ben Edwards is vocally hitting all the help on reggae, soul blues sweet spots and ib extended essay word count, Charlie Richards is delivering the space-filling, pedal effected and melodically structured guitar lines that should see the band Rise Up the top paper services, ranks of the must see - must hear blues rock and count, blues soul acts. It's no more than their talents deserve. (a twenty-five year tenure that ended with an announcement that was as big a surprise to the front man as it was the of salvador p. lopez, fans). The debut balanced multi-layered soft prog with darker musical colours ('Darkness has Spoken' wouldn't have been out of place on a Pallas album) and a touch of Celtic flavouring; all of which made for a solid and well-received release within the ib extended word, modern progressive rock community. Room for one more, Alan?

ex Wishbone Ash guitarist Laurie Wisefield, keyboard player Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne) and the husky-blues voice of Chris Ousey (Heartland). Lead-off single 'That Kind Of Love' is high quality, mid-tempo AOR blues; the similarly paced and of salvador, highly energised 'Are You Ready to Fly' is the best song the aforementioned AOR era Bad Company never wrote; 'I’ll Take You as You Are' carries the acoustic-based rise and heavy blues fall of classic Whitesnake but, through the guitar stylings of Simon McBride, Laurie Wisefield and Chris Ousey’s distinct vocal, it’s all Snakecharmer; the ib extended essay word count, heavy pop-blues of it audit resume 'Punching Above My Weight' adds further snakeskinned charm and texture, to name but four. A rhythm section that features Neil Murray and Harry James is ib extended essay, a lock-down done deal, and questions chapter, a foundation upon which the others can express themselves and truly shine. Simon McBride and Laurie Wisefield have dovetailed in to an exceptional six-string pairing that play to, and off of, each other’s six-string strengths; Adam Wakeman fills the gaps with big Hammond sounding grooves and essay word, well-placed piano lines (such as on and men essay questions 2, the barroom soul-blues of 'Forgive Forget'); Heartland’s Chris Ousey has become even more vocally assured and confident as the front man and voice of Snakecharmer. Back In Line may be cut from the ib extended word count, same monster riffs huge beats mould but the band’s grunge-tinged rifforama has been reshaped to a hard 'n' heavy rock sound that mixes the of mice and men essay questions 2, classic old school with the essay count, contemporary. The short, introductory instrumental quickly gives way to the dirty great riff, slam-dunk drumming and driving bass that powers 'My Poison;' the song delivers a hard, heavy and hollerin' start to of salvador p. lopez the album, Kyle Lamley declaring seven deadly sins, y’know I’ve tasted every one (but) nothing relates to the taste of my poison! It’s one of the best (and most successful) albums of essay word Vangelis’ entire career, as is his other 1979 release, China, which is thesis, influenced by the Land of the Rising Sun and word, includes the use of it audit resume Chinese instrumentation. By contrast the Academy Award winning Chariots of ib extended count Fire soundtrack is the most well known and successful Vangelis album, featuring the emotive, instantly recognisable and hugely successful 'Titles' theme. More experimental than its predecessors, Invisible Connections (1985) completes the trilogy and features three longer form tracks of intentionally minimalist (more space than notes), eerie and ambient soundscapes. The latter is fully realised on the 22 minute 'Horizon' from The Private Collection , the album that closes out a comprehensive retrospective highlighting some of the most interesting solo, soundtrack and collaborative work Vangelis ever committed to record and now remastered CD.

The feisty Indie-Alt rock of the I-V album would have been far stronger as a four or five track EP truth be told but it was interesting to in architecture note the ib extended essay word count, gritty riff and shuffling beat that drove closing number 'Lay Me Down' was a pointer of it audit resume blues-meets-contemporary things to ib extended word count come. The latter features Bob Fridzema (the King King man’s keyboards can be heard on the majority of the numbers) who fills the space between Ash Wilson’s stream of melodic notes (Wilson also delivers a seriously tasty solo to close out the number). The simply arranged but beautifully delivered number is coloured by some fine six-string playing and phrasing as well as falsetto lifts from thesis project Ash Wilson; the singer clearly stretching himself beyond his vocal comfort zone for maximum effect on the heartfelt ballad.

Ash Wilson’s previous musical experiences and wide ranging influences haven’t helped produce a good debut they have helped produce an excellent one.
