A given situation has ethical content when an action freely performed or not performed has the potential to harm or benefit others.
What is meant by harm? Broadly speaking, basic harms include death, pain (physical, emotional, spiritual), disability, loss of on high decisions freedom or opportunity, and loss of dignity or self-esteem. 20. Practical or decisional conflicts can be identified as claims of j2ee self-interest or choices based on personal values.
