For that, you might: Assess bias (also known as the author’s point of view): Maybe the soccer ball ad isn’t the most objective measure of the uwe dissertation frenchay, ball’s quality. If you aren’t sure of your thesis yet, brainstorm in your notes — not while you are writing. Once you have a thesis, stay on topic. If you’re writing about how Smaug wrecked the police, Forbidden Mountain, don’t start talking about how amazing and clever Bilbo is, even if it’s true.

Make sure you use all the documents —doing so gets you easy points. However, don’t simply regurgitate sources with no analysis. On Maturity With Age? ” make sure you are using the police misconduct, documents to make a point , and not letting the documents use you. How to Give a Killer Presentation. For more than 30 years, the TED conference series has presented enlightening talks that people enjoy watching. In this article, Anderson, TED’s curator, shares five keys to great presentations: Frame your story (figure out where to start and where to end). Plan your delivery (decide whether to memorize your speech word for word or develop bullet points and then rehearse it—over and over). Police Misconduct? Work on stage presence (but remember that your story matters more than how you stand or whether you’re visibly nervous). Thesis Statement? Plan the misconduct multimedia (whatever you do, don’t read from PowerPoint slides).

Put it together (play to your strengths and be authentic). According to Anderson, presentations rise or fall on essay comes with age the quality of the idea, the police essay narrative, and the passion of the speaker. It’s about substance—not style. In fact, it’s fairly easy to “coach out” the problems in a talk, but there’s no way to writing programs school, “coach in” the basic story—the presenter has to have the raw material. Police? So if your thinking is not there yet, he advises, decline that invitation to speak. Homework Line Com? Instead, keep working until you have an idea that’s worth sharing.

A little more than a year ago, on a trip to Nairobi, Kenya, some colleagues and police misconduct, I met a 12-year-old Masai boy named Richard Turere, who told us a fascinating story. His family raises livestock on the edge of a vast national park, and one of the biggest challenges is protecting the for academic animals from lions—especially at police misconduct essay, night. Com? Richard had noticed that placing lamps in a field didn’t deter lion attacks, but when he walked the field with a torch, the police misconduct lions stayed away. Integrity? From a young age, he’d been interested in electronics, teaching himself by, for example, taking apart his parents’ radio. He used that experience to misconduct, devise a system of lights that would turn on essay and off in sequence—using solar panels, a car battery, and police misconduct, a motorcycle indicator box—and thereby create a sense of movement that he hoped would scare off the lions. He installed the lights, and the lions stopped attacking.

Soon villages elsewhere in Kenya began installing Richard’s “lion lights.” The story was inspiring and worthy of the broader audience that our TED conference could offer, but on the surface, Richard seemed an unlikely candidate to give a TED Talk. He was painfully shy. His English was halting. When he tried to describe his invention, the sentences tumbled out incoherently. Statement? And frankly, it was hard to police essay, imagine a preteenager standing on statement integrity a stage in front of misconduct, 1,400 people accustomed to hearing from polished speakers such as Bill Gates, Sir Ken Robinson, and in ireland, Jill Bolte Taylor.

But Richard’s story was so compelling that we invited him to speak. In the months before the 2013 conference, we worked with him to frame his story—to find the right place to police, begin, and to develop a succinct and logical arc of events. On the back of his invention Richard had won a scholarship to one of Kenya’s best schools, and there he had the chance to practice the talk several times in front of a live audience. It was critical that he build his confidence to the point where his personality could shine through. When he finally gave his talk at essay james joyces ulysses, TED, in police Long Beach, you could tell he was nervous, but that only made him more engaging—people were hanging on his every word.

The confidence was there, and every time Richard smiled, the uwe dissertation binding frenchay audience melted. When he finished, the police misconduct essay response was instantaneous: a sustained standing ovation. Since the first TED conference, 30 years ago, speakers have run the gamut from political figures, musicians, and TV personalities who are completely at ease before a crowd to lesser-known academics, scientists, and writers—some of whom feel deeply uncomfortable giving presentations. Over the years, we’ve sought to develop a process for helping inexperienced presenters to frame, practice, and deliver talks that people enjoy watching. It typically begins six to nine months before the joyces ulysses event, and involves cycles of devising (and revising) a script, repeated rehearsals, and plenty of fine-tuning.

We’re continually tweaking our approach—because the art of police misconduct, public speaking is evolving in real time—but judging by public response, our basic regimen works well: Since we began putting TED Talks online, in 2006, they’ve been viewed more than one billion times. On the basis of this experience, I’m convinced that giving a good talk is for academic integrity, highly coachable. In a matter of hours, a speaker’s content and delivery can be transformed from muddled to mesmerizing. And while my team’s experience has focused on TED’s 18-minutes-or-shorter format, the lessons we’ve learned are surely useful to other presenters—whether it’s a CEO doing an IPO road show, a brand manager unveiling a new product, or a start-up pitching to VCs. There’s no way you can give a good talk unless you have something worth talking about. Conceptualizing and framing what you want to say is the most vital part of preparation. Find the Perfect Mix of Data and Narrative. by Nancy Duarte. Most presentations lie somewhere on the continuum between a report and a story.

A report is data-rich, exhaustive, and informative—but not very engaging. Stories help a speaker connect with an audience, but listeners often want facts and police, information, too. Great presenters layer story and information like a cake, and understand that different types of service, talks require differing ingredients. From Report: Literal, Informational, Factual, Exhaustive… If your goal is to communicate information from a written report, send the full document to the audience in advance, and limit the presentation to police essay, key takeaways. Don’t do a long slide show that repeats all your findings. Anyone who’s really interested can read the report; everyone else will appreciate brevity. Financial audiences love data, and on maturity comes, they’ll want the details.

Satisfy their analytical appetite with facts, but add a thread of narrative to appeal to their emotional side. Then present the misconduct key takeaways visually, to binding frenchay, help them find meaning in the numbers. Instead of essay, covering only specs and integrity, features, focus on essay the value your product brings to top summer writing for high, the world. Tell stories that show how real people will use it and misconduct essay, why it will change their lives. For 30 minutes with a VC, prepare a crisp, well-structured story arc that conveys your idea compellingly in 10 minutes or less; then let QA drive the rest of the meeting. Anticipate questions and service, rehearse clear and police misconduct essay, concise answers. Formal talks at big events are high-stakes, high-impact opportunities to take your listeners on thesis statement integrity a transformative journey. Use a clear story framework and aim to engage them emotionally. …to Story: Dramatic, Experiential, Evocative, Persuasive.

Nancy Duarte is the author of HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations, Slide:ology, and Resonate. She is the misconduct CEO of Duarte, Inc., which designs presentations and teaches presentation development. We all know that humans are wired to listen to stories, and metaphors abound for the narrative structures that work best to engage people. When I think about compelling presentations, I think about taking an audience on a journey. A successful talk is a little miracle—people see the world differently afterward. If you frame the talk as a journey, the biggest decisions are figuring out where to start and where to end.

To find the right place to for high school students, start, consider what people in police the audience already know about your subject—and how much they care about it. Essay Service? If you assume they have more knowledge or interest than they do, or if you start using jargon or get too technical, you’ll lose them. The most engaging speakers do a superb job of very quickly introducing the misconduct topic, explaining why they care so deeply about it, and writing in ireland, convincing the police misconduct audience members that they should, too. The biggest problem I see in first drafts of james, presentations is police misconduct, that they try to cover too much ground. You can’t summarize an entire career in a single talk. If you try to cram in everything you know, you won’t have time to include key details, and your talk will disappear into abstract language that may make sense if your listeners are familiar with the subject matter but will be completely opaque if they’re new to it. Essay Service? You need specific examples to flesh out your ideas.

So limit the scope of your talk to that which can be explained, and brought to life with examples, in the available time. Police Essay? Much of the early feedback we give aims to essay in ireland, correct the impulse to sweep too broadly. Instead, go deeper. Give more detail. Don’t tell us about your entire field of study—tell us about misconduct, your unique contribution. A successful talk is a little miracle—people see the world differently afterward. Of course, it can be just as damaging to overexplain or painstakingly draw out the implications of a talk. And there the remedy is different: Remember that the people in the audience are intelligent. Let them figure some things out for themselves. Let them draw their own conclusions.

Many of the best talks have a narrative structure that loosely follows a detective story. The speaker starts out by presenting a problem and then describes the search for a solution. There’s an “aha” moment, and the audience’s perspective shifts in uwe dissertation a meaningful way. If a talk fails, it’s almost always because the speaker didn’t frame it correctly, misjudged the essay audience’s level of critical essay james joyces ulysses, interest, or neglected to tell a story. Even if the topic is important, random pontification without narrative is always deeply unsatisfying. There’s no progression, and you don’t feel that you’re learning.

I was at an energy conference recently where two people—a city mayor and a former governor—gave back-to-back talks. Police? The mayor’s talk was essentially a list of impressive projects his city had undertaken. It came off as boasting, like a report card or an advertisement for his reelection. It quickly got boring. When the governor spoke, she didn’t list achievements; instead, she shared an idea. Yes, she recounted anecdotes from her time in office, but the binding frenchay idea was central—and the stories explanatory or illustrative (and also funny). It was so much more interesting. The mayor’s underlying point seemed to be how great he was, while the governor’s message was “Here’s a compelling idea that would benefit us all.” As a general rule, people are not very interested in talks about organizations or institutions (unless they’re members of them). Ideas and stories fascinate us; organizations bore us—they’re much harder to relate to. (Businesspeople especially take note: Don’t boast about your company; rather, tell us about the problem you’re solving.)

Once you’ve got the framing down, it’s time to focus on your delivery. Misconduct Essay? There are three main ways to deliver a talk. You can read it directly off a script or a teleprompter. You can develop a set of critical essay, bullet points that map out what you’re going to say in each section rather than scripting the whole thing word for word. Or you can memorize your talk, which entails rehearsing it to the point where you internalize every word—verbatim. My advice: Don’t read it, and don’t use a teleprompter. It’s usually just too distancing—people will know you’re reading. Police Misconduct? And as soon as they sense it, the way they receive your talk will shift. Statement? Suddenly your intimate connection evaporates, and police, everything feels a lot more formal.

We generally outlaw reading approaches of any kind at TED, though we made an exception a few years ago for a man who insisted on using a monitor. Homework Line Com? We set up a screen at police misconduct, the back of the auditorium, in the hope that the audience wouldn’t notice it. At first he spoke naturally. But soon he stiffened up, and you could see this horrible sinking feeling pass through the writing audience as people realized, “Oh, no, he’s reading to us!” The words were great, but the talk got poor ratings. Many of our best and police misconduct, most popular TED Talks have been memorized word for word. If you’re giving an important talk and you have the time to do this, it’s the best way to go.

But don’t underestimate the work involved. Creative School? One of our most memorable speakers was Jill Bolte Taylor, a brain researcher who had suffered a stroke. She talked about what she learned during the eight years it took her to recover. After crafting her story and undertaking many hours of solo practice, she rehearsed her talk dozens of times in front of an audience to be sure she had it down. Obviously, not every presentation is worth that kind of police misconduct, investment of time. But if you do decide to memorize your talk, be aware that there’s a predictable arc to the learning curve. Most people go through what I call the “valley of awkwardness,” where they haven’t quite memorized the talk. In Ireland? If they give the talk while stuck in police that valley, the audience will sense it. Their words will sound recited, or there will be painful moments where they stare into the middle distance, or cast their eyes upward, as they struggle to remember their lines. This creates distance between the speaker and the audience. Getting past this point is top summer for high, simple, fortunately.

It’s just a matter of rehearsing enough times that the police flow of words becomes second nature. Then you can focus on thesis delivering the police talk with meaning and authenticity. Don’t worry—you’ll get there. But if you don’t have time to thesis integrity, learn a speech thoroughly and get past that awkward valley, don’t try. Go with bullet points on note cards. As long as you know what you want to say for police each one, you’ll be fine.

Focus on remembering the transitions from one bullet point to the next. Also pay attention to uwe dissertation binding, your tone. Some speakers may want to come across as authoritative or wise or powerful or passionate, but it’s usually much better to police misconduct essay, just sound conversational. Don’t force it. Don’t orate. Just be you. If a successful talk is a journey, make sure you don’t start to james ulysses, annoy your travel companions along the misconduct essay way. Some speakers project too much ego. They sound condescending or full of line com, themselves, and the audience shuts down.

Don’t let that happen. For inexperienced speakers, the physical act of being onstage can be the most difficult part of giving a presentation—but people tend to overestimate its importance. Getting the words, story, and police, substance right is a much bigger determinant of with age, success or failure than how you stand or whether you’re visibly nervous. And when it comes to stage presence, a little coaching can go a long way. The biggest mistake we see in early rehearsals is that people move their bodies too much. They sway from side to side, or shift their weight from one leg to the other. People do this naturally when they’re nervous, but it’s distracting and makes the speaker seem weak. Simply getting a person to keep his or her lower body motionless can dramatically improve stage presence. There are some people who are able to walk around a stage during a presentation, and essay, that’s fine if it comes naturally. But the vast majority are better off standing still and relying on hand gestures for emphasis. Perhaps the most important physical act onstage is writing service in ireland, making eye contact.

Find five or six friendly-looking people in different parts of the audience and misconduct, look them in the eye as you speak. Think of homework com, them as friends you haven’t seen in a year, whom you’re bringing up to date on your work. That eye contact is incredibly powerful, and misconduct, it will do more than anything else to help your talk land. Essay? Even if you don’t have time to prepare fully and have to read from a script, looking up and making eye contact will make a huge difference. Another big hurdle for inexperienced speakers is nervousness—both in police essay advance of the talk and while they’re onstage.

People deal with this in different ways. Many speakers stay out in the audience until the moment they go on; this can work well, because keeping your mind engaged in the earlier speakers can distract you and limit nervousness. Amy Cuddy, a Harvard Business School professor who studies how certain body poses can affect power, utilized one of the essay on maturity more unusual preparation techniques I’ve seen. She recommends that people spend time before a talk striding around, standing tall, and extending their bodies; these poses make you feel more powerful. Police Misconduct Essay? It’s what she did before going onstage, and writing in ireland, she delivered a phenomenal talk. Misconduct? But I think the single best advice is simply to breathe deeply before you go onstage. It works.

In general, people worry too much about nervousness. Nerves are not a disaster. The audience expects you to be nervous. It’s a natural body response that can actually improve your performance: It gives you energy to thesis statement integrity, perform and keeps your mind sharp. Police? Just keep breathing, and you’ll be fine. Nerves are not a disaster. The audience expects you to be nervous. Acknowledging nervousness can also create engagement. Showing your vulnerability, whether through nerves or tone of voice, is one of the most powerful ways to on maturity with, win over an audience, provided it is authentic.

Susan Cain, who wrote a book about introverts and spoke at our 2012 conference, was terrified about police essay, giving her talk. You could feel her fragility onstage, and it created this dynamic where the audience was rooting for her—everybody wanted to hug her afterward. The fact that we knew she was fighting to keep herself up there made it beautiful, and essay on maturity comes age, it was the misconduct most popular talk that year. With so much technology at uwe dissertation frenchay, our disposal, it may feel almost mandatory to police misconduct, use, at a minimum, presentation slides. By now most people have heard the advice about PowerPoint: Keep it simple; don’t use a slide deck as a substitute for notes (by, say, listing the uwe dissertation bullet points you’ll discuss—those are best put on police note cards); and don’t repeat out uwe dissertation binding frenchay, loud words that are on the slide. Not only is reciting slides a variation of the teleprompter problem—“Oh, no, she’s reading to us, too!”—but information is interesting only once, and hearing and seeing the same words feels repetitive.

That advice may seem universal by now, but go into misconduct any company and you’ll see presenters violating it every day. Many of the critical essay james joyces best TED speakers don’t use slides at all, and many talks don’t require them. Misconduct Essay? If you have photographs or illustrations that make the topic come alive, then yes, show them. If not, consider doing without, at least for some parts of the presentation. And if you’re going to use slides, it’s worth exploring alternatives to PowerPoint. Writing Programs Students? For instance, TED has invested in the company Prezi, which makes presentation software that offers a camera’s-eye view of misconduct, a two-dimensional landscape. Instead of a flat sequence of images, you can move around the landscape and zoom in to it if need be. Used properly, such techniques can dramatically boost the visual punch of a talk and enhance its meaning.

Artists, architects, photographers, and uwe dissertation binding, designers have the best opportunity to use visuals. Police Essay? Slides can help frame and pace a talk and help speakers avoid getting lost in jargon or overly intellectual language. (Art can be hard to talk about—better to experience it visually.) I’ve seen great presentations in which the artist or designer put slides on an automatic timer so that the essay service image changed every 15 seconds. I’ve also seen presenters give a talk accompanied by video, speaking along to it. That can help sustain momentum. The industrial designer Ross Lovegrove’s highly visual TED Talk, for police essay instance, used this technique to bring the audience along on a remarkable creative journey.

Another approach creative types might consider is to build silence into their talks, and just let the line work speak for itself. The kinetic sculptor Reuben Margolin used that approach to powerful effect. The idea is not to think “I’m giving a talk.” Instead, think “I want to give this audience a powerful experience of essay, my work.” The single worst thing artists and architects can do is to retreat into abstract or conceptual language. Video has obvious uses for many speakers. In a TED Talk about the intelligence of com, crows, for instance, the scientist showed a clip of a crow bending a hook to fish a piece of police essay, food out of binding, a tube—essentially creating a tool. Police? It illustrated his point far better than anything he could have said.

Used well, video can be very effective, but there are common mistakes that should be avoided. A clip needs to be short—if it’s more than 60 seconds, you risk losing people. Don’t use videos—particularly corporate ones—that sound self-promotional or like infomercials; people are conditioned to tune those out. Anything with a soundtrack can be dangerously off-putting. And whatever you do, don’t show a clip of yourself being interviewed on, say, CNN. I’ve seen speakers do this, and it’s a really bad idea—no one wants to go along with you on your ego trip. Uwe Dissertation Binding Frenchay? The people in misconduct essay your audience are already listening to you live; why would they want to simultaneously watch your talking-head clip on a screen? We start helping speakers prepare their talks six months (or more) in advance so that they’ll have plenty of time to essay writing service in ireland, practice. We want people’s talks to be in final form at least a month before the misconduct essay event.

The more practice they can do in the final weeks, the better off they’ll be. Ideally, they’ll practice the talk on their own and in front of an audience. The tricky part about rehearsing a presentation in integrity front of other people is that they will feel obligated to offer feedback and constructive criticism. Often the police feedback from different people will vary or directly conflict. Age? This can be confusing or even paralyzing, which is misconduct essay, why it’s important to be choosy about the people you use as a test audience, and whom you invite to offer feedback. In general, the more experience a person has as a presenter, the better the criticism he or she can offer. I learned many of thesis for academic, these lessons myself in police essay 2011. My colleague Bruno Giussani, who curates our TEDGlobal event, pointed out that although I’d worked at TED for programs school students nine years, served as the essay emcee at our conferences, and introduced many of the speakers, I’d never actually given a TED Talk myself.

So he invited me to essay writing service in ireland, give one, and I accepted. It was more stressful than I’d expected. Even though I spend time helping others frame their stories, framing my own in a way that felt compelling was difficult. I decided to memorize my presentation, which was about how web video powers global innovation, and police misconduct essay, that was really hard: Even though I was putting in a lot of hours, and getting sound advice from my colleagues, I definitely hit a point where I didn’t quite have it down and writing service, began to doubt I ever would. I really thought I might bomb. I was nervous right up until the moment I took the stage. But it ended up going fine. It’s definitely not one of the all-time great TED Talks, but it got a positive reaction—and I survived the stress of going through it. As hard as it may be to give a great talk, it’s really easy to blow it.

Here are some common mistakes that TED advises its speakers to avoid. 1. Take a really long time to explain what your talk is about. 2. Speak slowly and dramatically. Police? Why talk when you can orate? 3. Make sure you subtly let everyone know how important you are. 4. Refer to your book repeatedly. For Academic Integrity? Even better, quote yourself from it. 5. Cram your slides with numerous text bullet points and multiple fonts. 6. Use lots of misconduct essay, unexplained technical jargon to make yourself sound smart.

7. Speak at thesis statement for academic, great length about the history of your organization and its glorious achievements. 8. Don’t bother rehearsing to essay, check how long your talk is running. 9. Line Com? Sound as if you’re reciting your talk from police essay memory. 10. Never, ever make eye contact with anyone in the audience. Ultimately I learned firsthand what our speakers have been discovering for three decades: Presentations rise or fall on the quality of the idea, the narrative, and the passion of the speaker. It’s about substance, not speaking style or multimedia pyrotechnics. It’s fairly easy to “coach out” the problems in a talk, but there’s no way to creative writing for high school students, “coach in” the misconduct basic story—the presenter has to top summer writing students, have the raw material.

If you have something to say, you can build a great talk. But if the central theme isn’t there, you’re better off not speaking. Decline the invitation. Go back to police misconduct essay, work, and wait until you have a compelling idea that’s really worth sharing. The single most important thing to remember is that there is no one good way to do a talk. The most memorable talks offer something fresh, something no one has seen before. Essay? The worst ones are those that feel formulaic. So do not on police any account try to emulate every piece of advice I’ve offered here.

Take the bulk of it on uwe dissertation frenchay board, sure. But make the talk your own. Misconduct? You know what’s distinctive about you and your idea. Play to your strengths and essay james ulysses, give a talk that is police misconduct, truly authentic to you.

Police Misconduct Essay - 3271 …

The History Behind the misconduct essay, Story of Goldilocks. Tolovaj is a small publishing house specializing in literature for with age children. The theory of fairytales is one of our passions. The story of Goldilocks and three bears. Goldilocks is very popular fairy tale character. Police Essay! Her visit to the cottage of homework line com, three bears is also well known and police, documented to james joyces, every single detail.

This fairy tale inspired numerous poems, books, cartoons and movies and her golden hair became a symbol of joyful and happy childhood. For some time we were also pretty sure about the author of Goldilocks although she was not called Goldilocks then, back in 19 century. Actually she didn't have a name at all. And she wasn't a pretty girl either. We have a strong case to believe she wasn't even a human being! Shall we explore the fascinating history of Goldilocks and her constantly changing relation with the three bears? (All images in this lens are Public Domain, this image is work of misconduct, William Wallace Denslow, source: Summary of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Long ago Goldilocks was playing at essay on maturity comes with, the edge of the forest and she strayed deep into the wood. Misconduct Essay! She accidentally found a cottage with half opened doors. There was also a sign telling there live Papa, Mamma and Tiny Bear.

Because the doors were already opened she peeked inside and saw a kettle with hot soup and three bowls ready for bears. There was no sign of bears in the cottage. Line Com! Place was so untidy Goldilocks decided to misconduct, clean it up and when she finished the kitchen she got in bedroom and clean it up too. In the meantime bears returned from the walk. After first surprise they welcomed Goldilocks and line, offer her to join them for dinner. They spent the day playing. At the end of the day bears accompanied Goldilocks to her house where she lived with her grandma. Bears decided to police misconduct, stay at grandma's house. Goldilocks taught them to clean and dust and do the housework. From then on they lived and played together as a best friends.

No problem, we'll explore the top summer for high school students, history of essay, Goldilocks together! The summary of Goldilocks above is based on adaptation of the story by with famous illustrator William Wallace Denslow (Wizard of Oz is his signature work). Misconduct Essay! It was published in with age 1903 and it has all typical elements of now widely recognized Goldilocks: - Goldilocks (here is police, called Golden Hair, name Goldilocks was first used in 1904) is sweet, helpful and innocent child, - bears are slightly messy, but nice and they are portrayed as a family: mother, father and writing, a kid,

- the door of bears' cottage is misconduct essay, already half open what suggest they don't care about private property, their place needs cleaning, what is also sign of writing service, negligence, - Goldilocks transfers values of civilization to cute but primitive bears, - happy end for everybody. To be fair we should admit at least one important deviation from many other variants: the power of police essay, fairy number three is almost ignored. I blame author for writing programs for high school that. He was primarily an illustrator and repeating the police misconduct, scenes probably wasn't very interesting to him. Homework! We will return to that later to explain Goldilocks principle but first of all we will try to find the roots of police, Goldilocks and essay writing in ireland, the Three Bears.

Goldilocks illustrated by Arthur Rackham. Name Goldilocks was first used in essay 1904 in thesis for academic integrity Old Nursery Stories and Rhymes and became widely recognized after Flora Annie Steel's editorial work and Arthur Rackham's illustrations. Gold has strong symbolic meaning in fairy tales, but Goldilocks (or Golden Hair) was not gold from the beginning. Until around 1870 it was silver, and than were several versions of prominent writers already circulating. George MacDonald for police misconduct essay instance wrote The Golden Key which was published in 1867.

Girl's hair was there still silver but with symbolically more powerful gold in title the change of hair color was probably near. In 1868 it really becomes gold in comes with Aunt Friendly's Nursery Book and after that it seems gold prevailed. More changes were to be made before the end of the century. The girl changed from intruder to nice little helper (similar to Snow White) and bears, three males, not necessary related to each other, just living together, became a family of mummy, daddy and a child without explicit gender. Golden Hair was Silver Hair in police misconduct essay 1850! English writer Joseph Cundall is credited as one of the most important authors in development of the homework line com, now famous story about police misconduct Goldilocks and three bears. He already knew story but before him it was not a child who enters the bears' cottage. It was an old lady. So silver hair was logical. Cundall decided to change an old lady with a child because in his opinion there was already too many fairy tales and nursery rhymes with old ladies as antagonists (villains).

Yes, that's right. She is the 'bad guy' of the story. She enters in the home of somebody else without permission, she eats somebody else's food and she sleeps in somebody else's bed. Cundall's version of Goldilocks was a narration about naughty and rude child who does everything wrong and in the end, facing the consequences (angry bears) escapes through the window. Bears were not a family from the beginning. In text they were first described as a family in 1878, although there are illustrations from 1852 where they were already drawn as mother, father and son. And there is also a version of brother and top summer creative programs students, sister being friends to the little bear. Little bear is important because he was originally the protagonist (hero) of the story. Because the bears were in misconduct earlier versions portrayed as victims of the top summer creative writing school students, intruder, little bear was the police essay, character with whom kids mostly sympathised. In 1837 The Story of the Three Bears was first published.

It was written by Robert Southey and it describes three bears as well behaved and civilized. They cooked some porridge (not exactly bear's favorite food) and because it was too hot took a walk. In the meantime delinquent old woman broke in the house and started messing around with their property. Bears are described very positively, they didn't lock the door only critical essay joyces because they never thought anything bad can to them as themselves never did anything bad to anybody else. The behaviour of old lady is contrary described with lots of negative comments, not common in tales and fables. Misconduct Essay! Southey wrote how she first peek through the keyhole and than turned the handle.

The door was closed and the case of burglary is evident! She tried the food of all three bears and ate all the food of the little one. She tried the seats of all three bears and broke the seat of the little one. She tried the bed of all three bears and finally fallen asleep in the bed of the little one. All bear were victims but the smallest was affected by far the most. He was the one to integrity, be sympathized by. At the police misconduct, end the old lady runs away and author suggests she should be sent to the correction institution! This version was considered as original work of Robert Southey until the middle of statement integrity, 20 century when one more older version was found.

Eleanor Mure wrote her own version of The Three Bears in police misconduct 1831 for writing her nephew's fourth birthday. (it was home made book) Mure's version was similar to Southey's, but in the end lady doesn't manage to escape. After the essay, bears unsuccessfully tried to burn and drown her, they finally impaled her on church steeple. This suggest the lady was really a witch! Wow! Original Goldilocks was an old witch? You see, there are versions of creative school, The Three Bears mentioned at least two decades before Eleanor Mure's book was made. And there is police essay, also an old English tale named Scrapefoot with three bears living in a castle (my home is my castle too) and a fox named Scrapefoot who did exactly the same as an old lady in thesis integrity The Three Bears. Stories are related for sure, but nobody knows which came first.

Ending scene from Scrapefoot - Illustrated by John Dickson Batten. There is a strong theory supporting the fox. In English tale about the three bears the fox is the intruder and because old woman is misconduct, also sometimes called she-fox Robert Southey who apparently heard this story from his uncle changed fox into she-fox. There is also a word vixen, coming from old English for feminine of fox and essay comes with, is widely used to police, describe a malicious woman. So who was the 'original' Goldilocks in your opinion? In fairy tales number three is most popular of all. The story of Goldilocks is far from uwe dissertation, perfection. Police! Nothing really important happens in this story and ending is. well, nothing special. So why is it so popular? One of the reasons for the popularity of Goldilocks and three Bears is in repetitive effect which goes like this: 1. Critical Essay! she does that and is not satisfied.

2. she does that and is still not satisfied. 3. Police Misconduct! she does that and she is finally satisfied. In the book of Robert Southey there different fonts were used to comes, emphasize the effect of repetition and escalation. This looked like that: Fairy tales are based on oral tradition and repetition is important tool of every narrator. We can learn something from the use of number three in variations of Goldilocks too.

Earlier versions are written in this form: 2. Still too hot! This seems logical. Big bowl has more porridge and small less porridge. We can expect lesser amount of porridge will cool down faster. In physics we can explain this with the heat capacity. In later versions the power of police misconduct, number three is used differently: The logic of line, physics is neglected, but the story benefits in versatility of options. Police Essay! Thus the narration is statement, more dramatic and this form won the test of time. This is also the form used when we are talking about Goldilocks syndrome, Goldilocks principle, Goldilocks rule and all other Goldilocks related phenomena.

Let me explain some of them before we end our journey through this popular tale where bears really don't play important role anymore. With so called Goldilocks principle we are stating about something inside certain margins. We live on a perfect example of Goldilocks principle. Our planet is: 1. Not too hot, not too cold. 2. Not too big, not too small. 3. It is just right! Goldilocks principle can be used in police misconduct many areas, so we can find it in science, politics, economics and even in religion. We are living in times where just everybody can find something what feels just right for himself (herself).

We are living in consumerism, where big companies non stop create billions of critical essay james joyces ulysses, realities, where everybody (or at least every member of their target group) can feel 'just right'. In many aspects we are not humans anymore, we evolved to police misconduct, individuals. Binding! In most cases pretty selfish individuals. And every individual has a name, right? The most popular name is - Goldilocks! We will probably all experience the Goldilocks syndrome in misconduct our lives because our mind is trained to uwe dissertation binding, find 'just right' environment, friends, partners, jobs and so on and on. This is not a problem at all, because humans are highly adaptable and extremely creative beings. The problem starts when we can't stop looking for perfect solutions in (let's be honest) pretty imperfect world. Think about the host of a party who wants everything should be just right for misconduct essay every guest but than something goes wrong and his image of statement, dozens of police misconduct, perfectly satisfied Goldilocks suddenly breaks down. It is very possible his nerves will break too!

I think I am experiencing Goldilocks syndrome right now. Trying to provide all the possible info about essay comes age Goldilocks and police, three bears and arrange all the data in service in ireland digestible form I am maybe becoming too obsessed with a perfect image of this lens. The Goldilocks rule is used at making choices. We all make our choices and we all pay toll for right and wrong decisions. Choices are connected with risk and we all know most of fairy tales are talking about making decisions and taking risks.

We can look at essay, choices this way: 1. Always choose something known, something we are sure what we can expect. We will live comfortable but pretty limited and somehow boring life. 2. Always choose the unknown, something what is still waiting to be explored. We will live life of ups and downs, we will never be bored but we will hardly find peace and happiness. 3. Balance between known and unknown, risky and risk-free, predictable and unpredictable. This way it is pretty possible we will achieve above average results in our lives but not at the price of health or personal relations. This last rule feels 'just right' and is of essay on maturity comes with age, course called Goldilocks rule.

It is very popular at police essay, business and personal decisions but probably most known when we talk about comes with reading. Every time when we are making a decision about reading, we should apply this rule. We should not stay limited in our comfortable zone of easy reading because we will not learn nothing new. We should not be focused only on finding books which excel our ability of understanding because surrounded only with too challenging literature we will likely forget the joy of reading. With right mixture of easier and harder literature we will probably maximize our reading experience and police, enjoy full benefits of reading. And this of homework com, course doesn't apply only at police misconduct, books but all sorts of reading! So this is the end of the essay on maturity with age, story about Goldilocks and three bears?

No, this is just the essay, end of my lecture. Now it is your turn! Goldilocks and Three Bears for Kindle. Beautifully illustrated classic fairy tale for Kindle. Goldilocks and top summer creative for high school, the Three Bears in Book. Timeless story about the girl who is seeking for thing which are 'just' right.

This lovely edition from the end of 19 century is edited by legendary collector and editor Joseph Jacobs and illustrated by top illustrators from police, so called Golden age: Anne Anderson - you'll notice her style on the cover, John Dickson Batten, Arthur Rackham and Charles Robinson are guarantee of for academic, quality. Only the best for the kid, right? Welcome to the land of adventure and imagination! Write My Research Paper for Me -
Persuasive Essay - Police Brutality …

an effective essay The following essay is one that I wrote in the Fall Semester of 2008 in ECI 102- Introduction to Middle Grades Education. ECI 102 is the police, first education class that I took at NC State, so I wrote this when I was truly beginning to learn about the education system and the teaching profession. During the course, we were assigned to write an essay about our thoughts on homework line com, what it meant to be an effective teacher. We were told to reference our class textbook, the LEAD/SERVE conceptual framework at police NC State, and the INTASC principles. I learned a lot about effective teaching from writing this essay and I will strive to be an critical essay ulysses effective teacher in police misconduct essay the near future. There are many techniques, skills, and practices that can make a teacher effective. In my opinion, being an for academic effective teacher means allowing an environment that enables students to learn in the classroom to their best abilities.

When effective teaching is practiced, students develop a love for misconduct learning and gain new knowledge about what they are studying. Effective teaching can stem from many different practices and ideas such as attitude toward subject matter, implementing different learning styles into lessons, and being passionate about the subject being taught. All of these ideas can help a teacher become more effective in the classroom. It is true that effective teaching also allows students to better understand new material and critical james, difficult content. Essay? Effective teaching takes time and thesis, effort. “Effective teaching is police, much more than an intuitive process.

A teacher must continually make decisions and act on top summer, those decisions” (Cooper 149). Being a teacher means making several decisions concerning planning for instruction, developing teaching strategies, and evaluating outcomes of lesson plans. After a lesson is taught, it is crucial to make note if any changes are necessary for next time. Police Misconduct? If the lesson was successful, the top summer writing programs school, teacher will know to keep using that strategy in the future. One of the main steps to becoming an effective teacher is to gain intimate knowledge toward the subject matter that will be taught in the classroom (Cooper, 149). Also, according to NC State’s College of Education’s LEAD/SERVE conceptual framework, an police effective teacher must demonstrate an understanding of the education context.

In other words, an effective teacher should be able to show that he or she is knowledgeable in the subject that is being taught. Another way to help students in the learning process is to line com make the content meaningful. For this to take place “the teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline he or she teachers and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of police, subject matter meaningful for creative programs for high students students” (INTASC Principles). I believe that teaching the content in misconduct essay a way that students can relate to or in some way apply it into com their own life will help them to understand it. Another major factor in helping a teacher become effective is police misconduct, attitude. “Many people believe that the teacher’s personality is the most critical factor in successful teaching. If teachers have warmth, empathy, sensitivity, enthusiasm, and humor, they are much more likely to be successful than if they lack these characteristics” (Cooper 157). I definitely believe that this statement holds true. As I think back to high school, the teachers who had the thesis statement for academic integrity, most pleasant personalities inspired me to police misconduct want to learn.

Their personalities made such a huge difference when teaching because it made the class so much more fun and enjoyable. I also think that attitude toward subject matter is extremely important. Essay With? The student can often tell if the teacher is misconduct, passionate about what he/she is teaching. Being passionate about a subject encourages and inspires others to want to learn about it. I have found that teachers who clearly demonstrate no interest in what they are teaching tend not to critical essay james be effective. After all, why should the misconduct essay, students want to learn the material if the teacher finds it boring? Also, becoming a teacher leader could even encourage other teachers to develop a good attitude, which in turn, will benefit more students. Com? A teacher’s attitude will more than likely influence the students. Also, having a positive outlook and being a role model for students will help with the police essay, learning process. After all, attitudes are contagious!

Additionally, effective teaching depends on if different learning styles are implemented into lesson plans. It is important for on maturity comes with age a teacher to realize that not every student learns in the same way. Some students may be better visual learners while others are better at misconduct hands on activities. Incorporating different learning styles will let each student have the ability to learn in a way that comes most natural to them. Writing Programs For High Students? A teacher I observed once said to her students, “I am giving a variety of options for this project because each student deserves their chance to shine.” I have never forgotten this statement because I think it is so important to provide a variety of misconduct essay, activities. Thesis Statement For Academic Integrity? According to police essay Walburg, “using a variety of teaching models” is an important technique when it comes to statement being an effective teacher. Also, according to the INTASC principles, “The teacher understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates instructional opportunities that are adapted to diverse learners.” It is evident that it is necessary to be aware of the different ways that students process information and eventually learn the material. Another teacher that I observed was friendly yet strict with her students. Police Essay? I believe that it is necessary to make sure the students know that the teacher has the authority.

However, I also believe that making sure students know that they can talk to their teacher when they have a problem is important. When I become a teacher, I want my students to know that they have my trust and service in ireland, can confide in me. Encouraging student involvement is another effective teaching strategy that I noticed when observing. It appeared to me that the police, students were engaged in the work they were doing and also in the material they were learning. This told me that this particular teacher was indeed practicing effective teaching methods. When it comes to effective teaching, there are many techniques that can better a teacher’s ability to enable students to learn.

As anyone can tell, becoming an effective teacher is not easy. It takes a lot of essay on maturity comes with age, planning, patience, and hard work. However, no matter how much work it takes, I believe that taking these necessary steps are crucial to my success as a teacher. Changing the lives of students, providing them with new knowledge, and giving them the materials necessary to help lead a bright future is my priority. If this means doing anything that is in my control to become an effective teacher, then I will strive to do just that.

Essay: Speech Disorder – Vocal Folds. Vocal Pathologies arise due to accident, disease, misuse of the voice, or surgery affecting the vocal folds and have a profound impact on patients’ life. The modeling of normal and pathological voice source and the analysis of healthy and pathological voices has gained increasing interest recently. Among the most interesting works are those concerned with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS), which belong to a class of neurodegenerative diseases that affect patient’s speech. Most voice-related pathologies are due to misconduct, irregular masses or the thesis statement for academic integrity presence of pathologies in the larynx such as vocal fold nodules or vocal fold polyps located on the vocal folds interfering in misconduct essay their normal and critical essay james joyces ulysses, regular vibration.

This phenomenon causes a decrease in voice quality, that is, usually the first symptom of this type of police misconduct disorders. Service! In the past, the only way to measure voice quality was by applying perceptual measurements denoting the existence or absence of several voice characteristics [26]. To analyze the speech signal in police misconduct essay order to essay on maturity comes age, estimate numerous parameters that indicate amplitude and frequency perturbations, the level of air leakage, the degree of turbulence, and so forth. Voice production starts with the vibration of the vocal folds, which can be more or less stretched to achieve higher or lower pitch tones. In normal conditions and in spite of this pitch variation ability, phonation is considered stabilized and regular. Any transformation on the vocal fold’s tissue can cause an irregular, nonperiodic vibration which will change the shape of the glottal source signal from police misconduct essay one period to the next, introducing jitter [7]. Frenchay! The same problem can occur in amplitude. If, for instance, the vocal folds are too stiff, they will need a higher sub glottal pressure to vibrate. The glottal cycle can thus be irregularly disturbed also in amplitude, originating shimmer. The possible existence of high frequency noise, especially during the essay closed phase of the writing glottal cycle, originated by police misconduct essay a partial closure of the vocal folds will cause an line com, air leakage through the police glottis, providing a turbulence effect. All these phenomena affect the glottal source signal, but there is no direct access possible to critical essay, this signal, the access is only available to the sound pressure radiated at the lips.

The estimation of the glottal source signal from the voice signal is not a simple task. Research in this field shows that it is reasonable to approximate the influence of the vocal tract by a linear filter. Using this approximation, the misconduct voice signal can be filtered by inverse of this filter to obtain an estimate of the glottal source signal [11]. In this work a non-interactive approach is taken without consideration of the influence of the supraglottis vocal tract or the influence of the sub glottis cavities on the glottal flow. As a consequence, it is essay on maturity age assumed that the source and filter parameters are independent. Details of the misconduct vocal tract and the utterances with respect to different articulators are indicated below. Figure 7.1 Vocal Tract indicating Place of different categories of Speech Production. 7.2 Frequency Perturbation-

Fundamental frequency has been shown to reflect the vocal fold status and how the variables interact and critical james, perform. Misconduct! Fundamental frequency is defined as follows. The vocal fundamental frequency is reflective of the biomechanical characteristics of the writing vocal folds as they interact with sub glottal pressure. The biomechanical properties are determined by laryngeal structure and applied muscle forces. Adjustment of the police misconduct essay latter, in turn, is homework line com a function of reflective, affective and learned voluntary behaviors. The small cycle-to-cycle changes in misconduct frequency are represented by frequency perturbations or what is called jitter. The estimation of irregularities in writing school students the vibration of the vocal folds is commonly measured by the jitter parameter. Jitter measures the irregularities in a quasi-periodic signal and can account for variations in one or more of its features, like period, amplitude, shape, and so forth [7].

Even a sustained vowel produced by a professional speaker cannot be considered as a periodic signal. Hence, the jitter of a voiced speech signal is police essay usually taken as a measure of the change in the duration of consecutive glottal cycles. Jitter the instability of essay on maturity comes vocal fold vibration represents a reflection of biomechanical and neuromuscular control. Perturbation values can vary in several ways. Variations of pitch perturbation are inversely proportional to the frequency, for example when fundamental frequency increases, jitter decreases. Variations of pitch perturbation is expected to change in relation to the degree of tension present in the vocal folds, where high tension reflects lower perturbation values and low tension reflects higher perturbation values. Vocal intensity and speech samples used have shown to police, affect perturbations.

The effects of intensity on jitter values are as follows. The higher jitter ratios were related to low pitch and intensity of homework line sustained vowels. It is found that pitch perturbation measures were more useful than amplitude perturbation measures. The use of perturbation measures in sustained phonation to detect laryngeal pathologies is police misconduct essay more valuable when combined with amplitude perturbation measures. Amplitude perturbation measures could increase the accuracy of targeting vocal pathologies. The greater the force, the greater is the thesis statement for academic integrity amplitude of police essay a sound wave. Intensity is an objective measure of sound loudness and essay on maturity comes with, it is the misconduct amount of force per essay unit of misconduct area. As pressure changes the perception of loudness also changes. Changes of frequency can affect perceptions of loudness. The Vocal intensity is dependent on on maturity with age, an interaction of police sub glottal pressure and the adjustment status and aerodynamics at essay comes the level of the vocal folds, as well as vocal tract status. Changes in fundamental frequency can affect maximum and minimum vocal intensities.

The speakers raise their fundamental frequency when asked to essay, speak louder. Reduced vocal intensity can also be an identifying factor to some speech disorders, especially those involving the central nervous system. Values of amplitude perturbation or “shimmer” are similar to jitter values. Uwe Dissertation Binding Frenchay! Shimmer measures the cycle-to-cycle variations of the vocal signal. Amplitude perturbation also analyzes the short-term variability of the vocal signal .Amplitude perturbation measures are based on the maximal peak amplitude of each cycle measured in mill volts or millimeters. Misconduct Essay! That the forces of vocal fold tension, mass, length and subglottic pressures can affect shimmer as well as jitter scores. Thesis Integrity! Shimmer is also better analyzed in prolongations of single sounds rather than in spontaneous or connected speech. Connected speech contains instances of misconduct essay silences, its intensity is variable between syllables as well as in word stress, and each phoneme has its own acoustic pattern. [9] The vocal folds are driven by the cranial nerves originating within this system. If the cranial nerves which innervate speech articulators are destroyed or damaged, then the uwe dissertation binding transmission to misconduct essay, the vocal folds will be disrupted. This subsequently may cause changes in the vocal fold vibratory pattern.

It happens in case of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) subjects. Jitter and shimmer values represent the small cycle-to-cycle changes during vocal fold oscillations. It would seem logical that there would be significant changes reflected in essay writing service the jitter and shimmer measures, since the vocal folds play an police essay, active role in speech production. Speech portion of large duration ‘ 10ms is thesis used to police misconduct essay, calculate frequency, jitter and shimmer. The pathological subjects have higher jitter values than the normal subjects for utterances. Vocal Tract Model. The vocal tract is thesis statement integrity responsible for changing the misconduct essay spectral balance of the glottal source signal. By changing the vocal tract shape the speaker can modify its resonance frequencies to produce a wide variety of different sounds.

Humans use the evolution in time of the resonance frequencies to produce speech. The glottal source signal is further modified by the vocal tract filter. The contribution of the vocal tract resonances can be removed from the speech signal by inverse filtering. Noise to Harmonic Ratio (NHR) is another useful measure of hoarseness. For a signal that can be assumed to be periodic (e.g. a sustained vowel), the signal-to-noise ratio will be equal to creative writing programs school students, the harmonics-to-noise ratio (HNR).

Praat declares that a healthy voice phonating /a/ or /i/ should have an HNR of 20, and 40 for the phonation of the vowel /u/. Police Essay! The pathological subjects have lower HNR values than the normal subjects for essay james joyces ulysses utterances and hence the intelligibility of vowels or consonants produced by them is very low. Formant Frequency Analysis. In real time continuous speech, even the police essay sustained vowel phonation consists of some random part mainly due to turbulence of airflow through the glottis (anterior and/or posterior glottis) and due to pitch perturbations. During the vowels pronunciation, the writing service in ireland value of first formant (F1) can be found in misconduct range from 250Hz to 1000Hz. When the tongue is closer to the hard palate the value of F1 is creative school students lower.

The value of the second formant (F2) can vary from 550 Hz up to 2700 Hz and it depends on front and back position of the tongue. The lower value for F2 can be achieved by rounding the lips [4]. Third formant (F3) is police misconduct important for quality and clarity of writing programs school students pronounced phoneme. 7.3 System Implementation. The system implemented for vocal folds Speech disorder is described below. The present work attempts to police essay, find few parameters from pathological speech for essay with confirmation of essay Vocal Folds disorder. Binding Frenchay! Researchers have used lot many parameters. Essay! We try to reduce the computational cost and reduce the number of ulysses parameters. The present work is based on study of children and some adult male and female subjects speaking with Marathi as their mother tongue. Police Misconduct! The speech data of statement normal subjects/children and pathological subjects/children of the police essay same age group between 3 to 10 years is collected. The children were trained to top summer creative writing programs school students, utter similar words before recording.

The speech data of police essay normal adult male and female subjects and pathological adult male and essay on maturity, female subjects of the same age group between 20 to 50 years is collected. The standard database is not available. The speech data of 11Vocal Folds disordered speakers comprising of above 100 words uttered by each subject are collected. Police! The speech database consists of on maturity comes with isolated words, connected words, fast uttered sentences and songs for e.g. Prarthana-School-Prayer, National anthem and Pledge ,Nursery Rhymes ,famous film songs etc.

The speech data was recorded using Sony Intelligent Portable Ocular Device (IPOD) and recording facility in COLEA freeware in digital form. The recording was carried out in a pleasant atmosphere and maintaining the police essay children and other subjects in tension-stress free environment. The recorded signal is transformed into ‘.wav ‘file by top summer creative writing programs for high students using GOLDWAVE software. The data was collected at ChetanaVikasMandir, a special school established to educate Mentally Retarded children as well as children with various disorders. It is located at Kolhapur, India. The data is also collected from the patients under the treatment of speech therapists and police misconduct essay, ENT specialists in Kolhapur city. We got the database labelled by consulting the doctors as Vocal Folds disorder speech data. 7.3.3 Evaluation of Speech. The present work attempts to confirm the Vocal Folds disorder from the speech signal by extracting only important segmental and supra segmental acoustic indices. The important indices are considered as Diagnostic Markers are as follows. 1. Evaluation of uwe dissertation binding Fundamental frequency fo, Jitter, Shimmer, and police misconduct, HNR for the analysis of harshness and breathiness in the voice to be done in the Training Phase to confirm the speech as of essay writing service pathological speech category.

Evaluation of Voice Regularity for essay the analysis of overall motor control during speech production activity. This is done with reference to the parameter threshold ranges specified in Table 4.1. 2. Uwe Dissertation! Glottal frequency variations ‘ the source frequency fo variations with respect to % percentile values from 0% to 100%. The Linear or nonlinear nature of the characteristics is important. The Vocal Folds disorder is confirmed by binding low gradient index in 0% to 50% fo percentile range and high gradient index and nonlinear nature of the characteristics in 50% to 100 % fo percentile range. 4. % Close Quotient (CQ) graph simulates the police Laryngograph and statement, indicates the close phase of police Glottis pulse signal or vocal folds vibrational cycle. The mean CQ, range of variation of CQ and CQ variations with respect to top summer programs for high students, total time duration of police essay speech sample are important parameters. 5. All ‘Tx’ graph indicates histogram of all pitch cycles for the total time duration of speech sample.

Regular ‘Tx’ graph indicates the essay on maturity with age histogram of the regular pitch periods which vary within +/- 10% with respect to the adjacent pitch periods. The similarity between the two graphs and the mean fo value of the person are important parameters. 7.4 System Block Schematic ‘ Diagram of the system implemented for evaluation of Vocal Folds disorder is as shown in essay Figure 7.2 below. The present work attempts to confirm the Vocal Folds disorder from the speech signal by extracting various segmental and supra segmental acoustic indices. The important indices are considered as Diagnostic Markers.

The acoustic indices are evaluated for all isolated word and SFS tool generates ‘Ls’ signal from the statement input speech data, which is compatible to Laryngograph signal which is not accessible to us. The ‘SFS’ tool provides the Qx a histogram of the closed quotient values found in the recording. The closed quotient is an estimate of the percentage time the vocal folds remained closed in each pitch period. It is found from the Laryngograph signal. The SFS tool provides the Dx1 a histogram of all the pitch periods found in essay the recording, distributed according to their fundamental frequency, Dx2 a histogram of all the top summer writing programs for high school students regular pitch periods found in police the recording, distributed according to their fundamental frequency. A pitch period is defined as regular if it deviates in duration by no more than 10% from the period before or after it. Using the acoustic indices the relationship between the Electroglottograph (EGG) measures and the physical movements of the vocal folds is expressed as ratios between the homework line com temporal measures of police misconduct essay open phase of vocal fold movement with closed phase and also between different phases of service in ireland movement with the full glottal period continuous sentence type speech data samples (above 100 words by each subject) uttered by every pathological and police essay, normal subject. The ready to use softwares are used for the development phase .We have used the critical james joyces developmental tool’ Praat’ to verify the intensity, pitch , the formant frequencies f1 , f2 ,f3 and HNR calculated by us using our MATLAB code for the speech samples. We have used the developmental tool ‘SFS’ to extract the police parameters voice regularity, Jitter, Shimmer, fo mean mode values. The Laryngeal Quality Analysis, Glottis Pulse Analysis is performed by using SFS software. SFS reports indicate exactly similar ‘all Tx ‘ and ‘regular Tx ‘ glottis pulse graphs in case of normal subjects where as for james pathological subjects the ‘regular Tx ‘ pulses produced are very low, insufficient in time domain as well as variable in frequency domain . 7.5 System Development. The system is developed using two modes training mode and essay, testing mode.

Training Mode- In training mode 50 speech samples are used to train the system. The Laryngograph comprising of thesis % Close Quotient (CQ) with respect to time indicative of the close phase of Glottis pulse signal or vocal folds vibrational cycle and the comparison of histograms of all ‘Tx ‘ which is all pitch periods with respect to regular ‘Tx’ pitch periods are plotted for these 50 speech samples to confirm Vocal Folds disordercharacteristics. The observations for Tx are as follows. 1. A pitch period is police essay defined as regular if it deviates in statement duration by misconduct no more than 10% from the period before or after it. 2. In case of normal persons, regular Tx graph matches with all Tx graph. 3. For Vocal Fold disordered persons, regular Tx contains almost 50 % of frenchay frequency range as compared to all Tx. Glottal Frequency F0 variation is found for normal as well as pathological speech.

It is evaluated in transformed percentile domain. The fo values for a speech data file are calculated by misconduct using Framing and essay, Windowing Algorithm in MATLAB. Then the Normalization routine is developed in Microsoft Excel. The algorithm for essay evaluation of Normalized fo Variation in Percentile Domain is as follows. 1. The % percentile value of f0 maximum level is considered to be 100% percentile. 2. Hence according to the data values of binding f0 variations as per the speech sample 0%-5%-10%-15%—–95%-100% percentile values of every speech sample are calculated. 3. The f0 frequency variations are plotted with respect to % percentile values. This graph provides a very good measure of fundamental frequency analysis to differentiate between normal speech and pathological speech .It also confirms Vocal Folds disorder. The graph is linear for certain range with high or low gradient and it exhibits curved nature in police the other range of statement for academic integrity fo for Vocal Folds disorderedspeakers. Band Pass Filter- The lower cut off frequency is in james the range 10 Hz to misconduct essay, 100 Hz and the upper cut off frequency selected should be such that the second formant frequency f2 should lie in thesis statement the pass band. Hence it is selected as 1500 Hz, 2000 Hz or 2500 Hz as per male, female or children based on pitch frequency range. Resonator – The resonating center frequency selected should be such that the second formant frequency f2 should lie in police misconduct essay the pass band. Hence it is selected as 1500 Hz, 2000 Hz or 2500 Hz as per male, female or children based on pitch frequency range. Vocal Tract Filter ‘ It is realized as a cascaded combination of three resonators acting as per joyces ulysses three formant frequencies. Police Misconduct Essay! The standard adult male formant frequencies are 500 Hz, 1500Hz, and top summer programs, 2500 Hz. The first formant frequency is amplified by 20 dB, the second formant frequency is amplified by 10 dB and the third formant frequency is police maintained at thesis integrity 0 dB.

Hence this filter boosts up the input speech signal spectrum as per the formant frequencies. Police Misconduct Essay! In case of pathological speech the essay service in ireland amplitudes of essay upper formants are degraded .Hence the VTF is the better solution to lift up the creative programs second formant spectrum. 7.7.1 System Applied for Correction of Vocal Folds disorder. The performance of misconduct Band Pass Filter was found to be better in homework line comparison with Vocal Tract Filter and Resonator Filter during the Training mode. Hence the BPF is misconduct essay applied for essay in ireland correction of Vocal Folds disorder speech. The BPF is designed with upper cut off frequency such that the second formant frequency f2 should lie in the pass band. Hence it is selected as 1500 Hz, 2000 Hz or 2500 Hz as per police male, female or children based on pitch frequency range. After applying the BPF to Vocal Folds disorder the following observations are made. 5. It is observed that Laryngograph comprising of regular Tx pulses graph shows improvement and contains more than 50 % of the frequency spectrum as compared to all Tx.

Thesis For Academic Integrity! The pathological speech due to misconduct, vocal folds disorder suffers from following conditions.

‘ Breathing voice segments are audible in speech because the subjects are under stress when they speak .When the speakers are supposed to take pause in between utterances of two successive words generally the breathing voice segment is heard. ‘ The minimum intensity level does not drop much as there is no silence region due to the presence of breathing voice segments. ‘ The speakers have to put more efforts for top summer for high the motor movements of articulators .Hence the utterances of different words is not appropriate. ‘ Due to low HNR levels below the pathological threshold of 12 dB the speech indicates harshness. ‘ The formants f1, f2, f3 are seen to be spread in case of pathological speech with respect to normal speech. As a result the vowels and consonants produced are either weak or inappropriate. 7.10 Our Contribution to present work. The Vocal Folds disordered speech database is not available. We got the police misconduct database labeled by the doctors .We have evaluated and analyzed the speech of the Vocal Folds disorder people with the help of few segmental an supra segmental acoustic indices like fo mean , Percentile glottal frequency fo track Characteristics, Laryngeal Quality represented by % Close Quotient characteristics , All ‘Tx’-Regular ‘Tx’ time-frequency Histogram and % voice Regularity.

Evaluation and confirmation of Vocal Folds disordered speech using the present theory is done for the first time by us and it is not done by any one before. 7.11 Concluding Remarks. The Vocal Folds disorder can be identified by statement for academic evaluation of police misconduct essay speech of 25 normal and 12 pathological subjects .Out of 12 pathological subjects 11 were confirmed to be vocal folds disabled persons .The disorder can be evaluated on the basis of following segmental and supra segmental acoustic indices. ‘ The speakers exhibit variability in different acoustical indices from time to creative programs students, time. ‘ The range of police misconduct essay % Voice Regularity is observed to be 15% to 40%.

‘ The range of % CQ Mean is observed to be 25% to 49 % with standard deviation of 13% to 20 %. ‘ The % of regular Tx pulses is very low with respect to all Tx pulses. The glottal pulses exist relatively only for 20 to 50 % of time duration of speech data and are effectively present in particular frequency range in 140 Hz to 300 Hz. The glottal pulses cannot be produced by the disabled speakers in school students low frequency range and in400 Hz to 600 Hz spectrum.. ‘ Percentile glottal frequency characteristics are Linear with low gradient up to 50 % percentile fo and Nonlinear curved with very high gradient up to police, 100% percentile fo. In some cases Nonlinear with very high gradient. ‘ The minimum intensity levels attained are in thesis for academic the range 28 dB to 40 dB because of breathing voice segments present consistently.
