literature proposal Sample Proposals for the Undergraduate Engineering Review. Before an article, report, or brief is accepted into the Undergraduate Engineering Review, the author must first submit a proposal that specifies the forest life photograhpic secret importance of the research, the scope and limitations of the research, and the methods for the research. Submitters should read the disadvantages essay writing journal's Request for Proposals before submitting. A Proposal to Research the Storage Facility. for Spent Nuclear Fuel at Yucca Mountain. There are many questions regarding the safety of the Yucca Mountain waste repository. Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory disagree over the long-term safety of the proposed high level nuclear waste site located in Nevada. In 1994, Charles Bowman, a researcher at Los Alamos, developed a theory claiming that years of storing waste in the mountain may actually start a nuclear chain reaction and explode, similar to an atomic bomb [Taubes, 1995]. Essay Forest Photograhpic? The stir caused by theory suggests that researchers have not explored all sides of the safety issue concerning potentially hazardous situations at Yucca Mountain.

Bowman's theory that Yucca Mountain could explode is based upon the idea that enough waste will eventually disperse through the rock to create a critical mass. A critical mass is an essay, amount of fissile material, such as plutonium, containing enough mass to start a neutron chain reaction [Murray, 1989]. Bowman argues that if this chain reaction were started underground, the rocks in essay forest photograhpic secret, the ground would help keep the system compressed and speed up the thesis networking chain reaction [Taubes, 1995]. A chain reaction formed underground could then generate huge amounts of energy in a fraction of a second, resulting in a nuclear blast. A nuclear explosion of this magnitude would emit large amounts of essay forest secret, radioactivity into the air and essay is blessing ground water. Another safety concern is the essay photograhpic secret possibility of a volcanic eruption in essays, Yucca Mountain. The long-term nuclear waste storage facility needs to remain stable for at least 10,000 years to allow the radioactive isotopes to decay to life photograhpic, natural levels [Clark, 1997].

There are at least a dozen young volcanoes within 40 kilometers of the proposed Yucca Mountain waste site [Weiss, 1996]. The proximity of Yucca Mountain to of internet essay writing, these volcanoes makes it possible to have a volcanic eruption pass through the spent fuel waste repository. Such a volcanic eruption could release damaging amounts of radioactivity to the environment. (1) explain the criteria for a suitable repository of high-level radioactive waste; and. (2) determine whether Yucca Mountain meets these criteria. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), a repository for high-level radioactive waste must meet several criteria including safety, location, and economics [Roush, 1995]. Safety includes not only the effect of the repository on people near the site, but also people along the essay secret transportation routes to the site. Basic Guide An Essay? In my research I will consider both groups of essay, people.

As far as location, a waste site cannot be in how to a college admission essay 5 page, an area with a large population or near a ground water supply. Also, because one of the most significant factors in determining the life span of a possible repository is how long the waste storage canisters will remain in forest life, tact, the waste site must be located in a dry climate to eliminate the moisture that can cause the disadvantages waste canisters to corrode. The economics involved in selecting a site is another criterion. At present, the Department of essay, Energy (DOE) has spent more than 1.7 billion dollars on disadvantages of internet essay the Yucca Mountain project [Taubes, 1995]. For that reason, much pressure exists to select Yucca Mountain as a repository site; otherwise, this money would have been wasted. Other costs, though, have to be considered. For instance, how economical is it to forest life secret, transport radioactive waste across several states to a single national site?

I will try to account for as many of these other costs as possible. After explaining the criteria, I will assess how well Yucca Mountain meets those criteria. In this assessment, I will not assign a numerical score for each criterion. Rather, I will discuss qualitatively how well Yucca Mountain meets each criterion. In some situations, disagreement exists among experts as to how well Yucca Mountain meets a criterion. In such cases, I will present both sides. In this assessment, only contrasting essays outlines Yucca Mountain will be considered as a possible site.

Although many sites in the United States could meet the DOE's established criteria, I will consider only essay forest secret Yucca Mountain because the DOE is considering only Yucca Mountain [Taube, 1995]. The first goal of is blessing or curse, my research is to life, explain the criteria for determining whether a nuclear waste repository is how to write, suitable. For example, will the essay life photograhpic secret rock structure be able to withstand human invasion in the future [Clark, 1997]? What will happen if the write admission essay waste containers corrode and do not last as long as predicted? Will the natural setting contain the waste? To achieve this goal, I will rely on Background on life photograhpic secret 40 CFR Part 197 Environmental Standards for Yucca Mountain [Clark, 1997], the DOE Yucca Mountain home page [1997], and the book Understanding Radioactive Waste [Murray, 1989]. A second goal of my literature review is to evaluate Yucca Mountain meets those criteria. I will base my evaluation on essay science is blessing the sources mentioned above as well as specific Environmental Protection Agency standards.

I also intend to research the validity of possible environmental disasters, such as the explosion theory. To accomplish this goal, I will rely on the paper presented by Clark [1997], and on forest life photograhpic the book Blowup at science, Yucca Mountain [Taubes, 1995]. Because engineering students are the primary audience for my proposed research topic and may not be familiar with the history of nuclear waste, I will provide a background on past methods used for waste storage. People in the nuclear field with some knowledge of the waste problem facing the industry may be a secondary audience. Figure 1. Schedule for completion of the literature review.

The formal presentation will be on October 27, and the formal report will be completed by essay forest photograhpic secret, December 5. Given that all my sources are available through the University of Wisconsin library system, there is essays outlines, no appreciable cost associated with performing this review, unless one takes into photograhpic secret, consideration the amount of tuition spent on maintaining the university libraries. The only other minor costs are photocopying articles, creating transparencies for my presentation, printing my report, and essay science or curse binding my report. I estimate these expenses will not exceed $20. I am a senior in essay, the Engineering Physics Department at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, majoring in nuclear engineering and physics. Contrasting Essays Outlines? I have taken several classes related to forest life photograhpic, nuclear waste, economics, and environmental studies. I believe that these courses will aid me in preparing the proposed review. For further information about my qualifications, see the attached resume. A Proposal to Review How Geophysical Precursors. Can Help Predict Earthquakes. Throughout the world, devastating earthquakes occur with little or no advance warning. Some of these earthquakes kill hundreds of people. If the essay forest photograhpic secret times, magnitudes, and locations of essays outlines, these earthquakes could be accurately predicted, many lives could be saved. This document proposes a review of how monitoring geophysical precursors can help in the short-term prediction of life photograhpic secret, earthquakes. The proposed review will discuss the physical principles behind the monitoring of three common precursors and evaluate how accurate each monitoring is in predicting earthquakes. Master? Included in this proposal are my methods for gathering information, a schedule for completing the essay life secret review, and my qualifications.

On the morning of April 18, 1906, the basic guide to write population of San Francisco was awakened by violent shaking and by the roar caused by the writhing and collapsing of buildings [Hodgson, 1964]. The ground appeared to be thrown into waves that twisted railways and broke the pavement into great cracks. Essay Forest? Many buildings collapsed, while others were severely damaged. The earthquake caused fires in fifty or more points throughout the city. Essay Science Or Curse? Fire stations were destroyed, alarms were put out of commission, and water mains were broken. Essay Photograhpic Secret? As a result, the fires quickly spread throughout the city and continued for three days. The fires destroyed a 5 square-mile section at the heart of the city [Mileti and Fitzpatrick, 1993]. Even more disastrous was the essay year Kwanto earthquake in Japan that devastated the cities of Yokohama and Tokyo on September 1, 1923 [Hodgson, 1993].

In Yokohama, over 50 percent of the buildings were destroyed [Bolt, 1993], and as many as 208 fires broke out and spread through the city [Hodgson, 1964]. When the disaster was over, 33,000 people were dead [Bolt, 1993]. In Tokyo, the forest damage from the earthquake was less, but the resulting fires were more devastating. The fires lasted three days and destroyed 40 percent of the city [Hodgson, 1964]. After the fire, 68,000 people were dead and 1 million people were homeless [Bolt, 1993]. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake and the Kwanto earthquake were two of the most famous and basic guide to write devastating earthquakes of this century. These earthquakes struck without warning and with disastrous results. If earthquakes could be predicted, people would be able to evacuate from buildings, bridges, and overpasses, where most deaths occur.

Some earthquakes have been successfully predicted. One of the most famous predictions was the essay forest Haicheng Prediction in China. In 1970, Chinese scientists targeted the Liaoning Province as a site with potential for a large earthquake. These scientists felt that an earthquake would occur there in 1974 or 1975. On December 20, 1974, an on school, earthquake warning was issued.

Two days later, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck the Liaoning Province; however, further monitoring suggested a larger earthquake was imminent [Mileti and essay others, 1981]. On February 4, 1975, the write essay Chinese issued a warning that an earthquake would strike Haicheng within 24 hours [Bolt, 1993]. The people in essay life secret, Haicheng were evacuated, and about 5.5 hours later, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake shook the essay city of Haicheng. Essay Forest Life Secret? If the people hadn't been evacuated, the death toll could have exceeded 100,000. Using geophysical precursors, the science is blessing or curse Chinese have predicted more than ten earthquakes with magnitudes greater than 5.0 [Meyer, 1977]. For example, the forest life secret Chinese predicted a pair of earthquakes of magnitude 6.9 that occurred 97 minutes apart in Yunnan on writing May 19, 1976 [Bolt, 1993]. Despite these successes, the Chinese failed to predict the earthquake that struck the city of Tangshan on July 27, 1976; this earthquake killed 250,000 people and injured 500,000 more [Bolt, 1988]. This earthquake wasn't completely unexpected, but the life photograhpic secret Chinese believed it to be a few years away.

Other earthquakes have been predicted, but the predictions didn't have enough precision for warnings to disadvantages of internet, be issued. For example, in 1983, a young geophysicist predicted that an earthquake of essay forest life, magnitude 8 would strike Mexico City within four years [Deshpande, 1987]. Two years later, an earthquake of of internet essay, magnitude 8 did strike Mexico City. Because the prediction was not more precise, no warning was issued and the earthquake took the forest life photograhpic secret population of essay science, Mexico City by surprise. Other predictions have turned out to be false warnings. Secret? For example, an earthquake warning was issued in August 1976 near Hong Kong [Bolt, 1988]. During the earthquake alert, people slept outdoors for two months. No earthquake occurred. I propose to review the available literature on how geophysical precursors can be used for short-term predictions of earthquakes. In this review, I will achieve the following three goals: explain three commonly monitored geophysical precursors: ground uplift and networking tilt, increases in radon emissions, and changes in the electrical resistivity of rocks; show what happens to each of these precursors during the five stages of an earthquake; and. discuss how each of essay photograhpic secret, these precursors is used for how to admission essay 5 page, short-term earthquake predictions.

Geophysical precursors are changes in the physical state of the earth that are precursory to essay forest photograhpic, earthquakes. In addition to monitoring geophysical precursors, there are other strategies for predicting earthquakes-in particular, analyzing statistical data on prior earthquakes. Analyzing statistical data on prior earthquakes, however, is essay, solely a long-term prediction technique [Bolt, 1993]. For that reason, I will not consider it. In my review, I will discuss three common geophysical precursors: ground uplift and tilt, increases in essay life photograhpic, radon emissions, and changes in to write an essay, the electrical resistivity of rocks. Earthquakes occur in forest life photograhpic secret, five stages as there is write a college essay, a build up of elastic strain within faults in the earth, followed by photograhpic secret, the development of cracks in the rocks, then the influx of water into those cracks. The fourth stage is the actual rupture of the fault and the release of seismic waves. The fifth stage is the sudden drop in write essay 5 page, stress in the fault.

In this stage, aftershocks occur. During these five stages, the photograhpic geophysical precursors follow distinct patterns. For instance, the ground uplift and tilt increases during the second stage as the volume of rock increases. In my review, I will relate how the essay three geophysical precursors relate to the five stages of an earthquake and how well this relation can be used to predict the oncoming fault rupture. This section presents my plan for obtaining the objectives discussed in the previous section. Essay Forest Life? Because of the essays outlines recent earthquakes in California and Japan, there has arisen a strong interest to predict earthquakes precisely. As a consequence of that strong interest, many books and journals have been written on earthquakes and earthquake prediction. I have gathered five books and essay photograhpic secret several articles on the subject. In addition, there are dozens of books and articles available in the library. These books and articles should provide sufficient information for me to write my review.

The following paragraphs discuss how I will use these sources in my research. The first goal of my research is to write a college 5 page, explain the physical principles behind monitoring geophysical precursors. For example, why does the electrical resistivity of rocks decrease before an oncoming earthquake? Or, what does a sudden increase in radon emissions reveal about the future likelihood of a massive earthquake? The second goal of my research is to show what happens to each of these precursors during the five stages of an earthquake. To achieve these two goals, I will rely on three books that give an life secret, overview to earthquake prediction: Earthquakes [Bolt, 1988], Earthquakes and Geological Discovery [Bolt, 1993], and Earthquakes and Earth Structure [Hodgson, 1964].

A third primary goal of the literature review is to cover the contrasting accuracy of monitoring each precursor. By accuracy, I mean how well does the method work in predicting the photograhpic time, place, and master size of earthquakes. Forest? This discussion will not include many statistics on the predictions of earthquakes, because at present there just haven't been enough successful predictions to validate these types of statistics. Instead, I intend to evaluate the potential accuracy of monitoring each precursor based on the opinions of experts and essay science is blessing or curse preliminary data. To achieve this goal, I will rely on essay forest life secret two of my most recent sources: The Great Earthquake Experiment [Mileti and Fitzpatrick, 1993] and Earthquakes and Geological Discovery [Bolt, 1993]. Should I require additional sources other than the ones I have, I will search for them in the library system at the University of Wisconsin. Should I not be able to find that information, I will modify the scope of my research accordingly.

Because the primary readers for my proposed literature review are engineering students who are probably not familiar with the theories behind earthquakes, I will have to provide selected background information frommy sources. These engineering students already know that earthquakes are devastating. They also know that if earthquakes could be predicted, people would be able to prepare for them and lives would be saved. However, they may not know the different methods of predicting earthquakes. My intent is to inform these students of three methods of thesis, predicting earthquakes.

A secondary audience for the review would be non-technical readers who either live in earthquake-prone areas or are affected financially when earthquakes occur. My proposed literature review will provide this group with an unbiased discussion of three methods for earthquake prediction. This discussion, drawing much from essay forest secret, overview chapters in Earthquakes, Animals and Man [Deshpande, 1987] and contrasting essays outlines California Quake [Meyer, 1977], will put into essay forest, perspective how accurate, or inaccurate, the named methods are and what hurdles face engineers who try to predict earthquakes. This section presents my schedule, costs, and qualifications for performing the on school year proposed research. The proposed research project culminates in a formal report that will be completed by December 6, 1995. To reach this goal, I will follow the schedule presented in Figure 1. Because I already possess several books and articles on essay forest life photograhpic secret earthquake prediction, most of my time will be spent sifting through the information, finding the key results, and presenting those results to the audience. Figure 1. Schedule for completion of literature review. The two triangles represent milestones for the project, the first being the formal presentation on year November 11, 1996, and the second being the formal report on December 6, 1996. Given that I can obtain all my sources for the literature review from the essay library, there is no appreciable cost associated with performing this literature review. The only costs, which will be minor, are for copying articles, printing the guide to write an essay review, and spiral binding the review. I estimate that I can do these tasks for under $10.

I am a senior in essay forest, the Geological Engineering Department at the University of disadvantages of internet essay, Wisconsin at life photograhpic, Madison. In my undergraduate courses I have taken rock mechanics, soil mechanics, geophysics, and stratigraphy, all of which have included the principles of seismology and an essay stress-strain relationships. In addition, I have taken field courses on structural geology that have introduced me to subsurface behaviors. Essay Forest Life Photograhpic? I believe that these courses and my hands-on experience will aid me in contrasting essays outlines, assimilating the proposed literature review. The Secret Life of a Forest: A book by Jill Bailey

How to delete a “blank page” in Word. Users often ask how to get rid of a blank page that is being printed at the end or in the middle of a document. How to approach this problem depends on whether or not the page is actually blank. A simple test will help you decide: Can you see the page? That is, in Print Layout view or Print Preview, does Word display the empty page? If so, it is not really “blank.” Read the next section to forest life photograhpic secret, find out how to master thesis, deal with it.

If the page is not displayed, even in Print Preview, unless you’re displaying facing pages, then the page really is “blank” and is being created by Word; see “True blank pages.” Important Note: If your problem document is a rsum based on a Microsoft template, skip immediately to essay secret, “Table at the end of the document.” “Blank” pages that aren’t really blank. Except for the blank even or odd pages that Word inserts as needed before an Odd or Even Page break (see “True blank pages”), most “blank” pages aren’t really blank. If a page “prints,” it’s because there is something on disadvantages of internet writing, it.

Obviously, that something is invisible to essay photograhpic, the user. Essay Writing? The first line of attack in diagnosing the essay photograhpic problem is therefore to make it visible by displaying nonprinting characters. Word 2003 and earlier: Press Ctrl+* or click on the Show/Hide ¶ button on the Standard toolbar. Figure 1a. The Show/Hide ¶ button on the Standard toolbar. Word 2007 and essays outlines, above: Press Ctrl+* or click on the Show/Hide ¶ button in the Paragraph group of the Home tab on the Ribbon. Figure 1b. The Show/Hide ¶ button on the Home tab. When you do this, you’ll suddenly see a lot of essay, markings that may be unfamiliar to you if you’ve never before displayed nonprinting characters (or “formatting marks”).

You can get more information about them in the article “Word’s nonprinting formatting marks.” The one you want to concentrate on is the paragraph mark: ¶. Every time you see that mark, it indicates an empty paragraph. Delete all the empty paragraphs and you’ll most likely get rid of your “blank page.” The following sections will explain a few situations in which deleting empty paragraphs will not work or will not suffice. Important Note: Users often believe that a header or footer is disadvantages of internet essay writing, causing Word to print an otherwise blank page. The truth is actually the reverse: the presence of content is causing Word to generate an apparently empty page that has the essay photograhpic secret default header or footer; get rid of what is causing the how to write a college admission essay 5 page page, and photograhpic secret, the header/footer will vanish with it. If your problem document is a rsum based on a Microsoft template, it will almost certainly be created using a (borderless) table. In Word 2007 and above, this is easy to diagnose because, when you click anywhere in the document, the basic to write an essay contextual Table Tools tab is added to forest life photograhpic secret, the Ribbon.

In earlier versions, you may have no such clue. Essay Science? To make the table easier to essay photograhpic secret, visualize and work with, you need to display the table gridlines (which show the cell boundaries: Word 2003 and on school, earlier: Click View Gridlines on the Table menu. Word 2007 and above: Click View Gridlines in the Table group on the Table Tools | Layout tab. If there is essay life, a table at the very end of write admission, your document (of if, in the case of life photograhpic secret, a rsum, the whole document is a table), Word will insist on having an empty paragraph after the essay is blessing table. Essay Life Secret? You will not be able to essay science is blessing or curse, delete this paragraph because the paragraph holds the formatting for the entire document (or the last section if there is more than one). The end-of-table marker cannot hold this information because it contains information about the formatting of the table.

If your table completely fills the “last” page, the empty paragraph will result in essay life photograhpic secret a “blank” page following it. Although you cannot remove this paragraph, you can make it disappear. One way to do this is to make it very small. Select the paragraph mark and format the font size to 1 point. You may need to make the paragraph line spacing 1 point as well. Usually this will make the paragraph small enough to fit on the previous page.

If it does not, you will need to make the paragraph Hidden (see below). If you make the paragraph Hidden, it will not disappear until you again hide nonprinting characters (by pressing Ctrl+* or clicking the Show/Hide ¶ button). To format the paragraph mark (or any text) as Hidden, select it and press Ctrl+Shift+H ; sometimes this doesn't take for paragraph marks, so you will need to use one of essays outlines, these other methods: Word 2003 and forest life, earlier: Click Format on the Menu Bar, then Font ; then check the box for Hidden and click OK . Word 2007 and above: Access the Font dialog by clicking the dialog launcher (small curved arrow) in the bottom right corner of the Font group on the Home tab. Check the box for Hidden and click OK . In any version, you will usually find Font… on the context menu if you right-click. Check the box for Hidden and click OK . Blank page in the middle of a document. If your blank page occurs in the middle of a document (and is not caused by an Odd/Even Page section break), there is a remote chance that it is caused by a plethora of empty paragraphs, but more often it is the result of year, a manual page break. This is one reason manual page breaks are discouraged: when formatting changes (either because of editing or because the document is opened on a system using a different printer), the manual page break may immediately follow a natural page break, causing a blank page. Word 2003 and essay photograhpic secret, earlier: A manual page break is inserted using Ctrl+Enter or Insert | Break: Page break . Word 2007 and above: A manual page break is inserted using Ctrl+Enter or through the Breaks gallery in the Page Setup group on the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon. In order to disadvantages, see a representation of a manual page break, you must display nonprinting characters.

In Word 2003 and earlier, the break is displayed as a dotted line across the page. Essay Life Secret? In Word 2007 and later, it is a shorter line. Figure 2a. How a manual page break is represented in Word 2003 and earlier. Figure 2b. How a manual page break is represented in Word 2007 and above. Partially blank page in essays outlines the middle of essay forest life secret, a document. Sometimes the problem is not an entire page that is blank but just a large empty space at the bottom of a page that you can’t get Word to fill. If you don’t see a manual page break, the likelihood is that the disadvantages of internet writing page break is being caused by paragraph formatting.

Whenever a page ends short for no apparent reason, examine the formatting of the essay forest life photograhpic paragraph(s) at contrasting essays outlines the top of the following page to see whether “Page break before” or “Keep with next” is checked. Word 2003 and earlier: Go to Format | Paragraph and select the secret Line and to write an essay, Page Breaks tab. Word 2007 and essay forest photograhpic secret, above: Access the Paragraph dialog by clicking on outlines, the dialog launcher arrow at the bottom right corner of the Paragraph group on the Home tab of the essay life Ribbon and select the Line and Page Breaks tab. In any version, right-click in the paragraph and select Paragraph. from the context menu, then select the Line and Page Breaks tab. In any version, if either “Page break before” or “Keep with next” is checked, there will be a small square bullet in the margin next to the paragraph. Double-click on that to open the Paragraph dialog with the Line and disadvantages, Page Breaks tab selected. Figure 3. The Line and forest secret, Page Breaks tab of the Paragraph dialog in write admission 5 page Word 2010. Although “Page break before” or “Keep with next” formatting alone will not result in a blank page, it frequently accounts for a partially empty page and could result in a blank page if the essay photograhpic “blank” page contains a single paragraph mark formatted as “Page break before,” followed by another “Page break before” paragraph on the next page. Does your document have more than one section?

You can find this out by pressing Ctrl+End (to go to the end of the document) and looking at the status bar. If the number following “Sec” or “Section” is greater than 1, you have more than one section. (In Word 2007 and above, the status bar does not display the section number by default; to see it, right-click on the status bar and choose Section from the menu.) When your document has more than one section, they are separated by section breaks. How To A College? You can see the different kinds of section breaks as follows: Word 2003 and earlier: Click Insert | Break to open the essay forest Break dialog. Figure 4a. The Break dialog in Word 2003. Word 2007 and above: Access the Breaks gallery from the Page Setup group on thesis, the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon. Figure 4b.

The Breaks gallery in essay forest secret Word 2010. A Continuous section break does not cause a page break. A Next Page break causes the following text to start a new page. An Odd Page break causes the essay on school following text to start a new odd page. If the text before the break ends on an odd page, Word will insert a blank even page between the two odd pages. Forest? This page is completely invisible to the user (except in Print Preview with facing pages displayed) but will be “printed” by the printer. Similarly, an write admission, Even Page break may cause Word to forest, insert a blank odd page. Sometimes a Next Page break will be converted to an Odd Page break.

This frequently happens when a landscape page appears on the back of master thesis, a portrait one, or vice versa. The reason for forest life, this is that most printers really don’t like to print landscape; rotating text and graphics is apparently a more complex operation for them. It seems to be especially difficult for them to master thesis, duplex (print both sides of) pages with different orientations. Word accommodates this reluctance by changing Next Page breaks to essay photograhpic secret, Odd Page so the printer can print the pages on separate sheets. But you don’t have to put up with this laziness; you can make the basic an essay printer shape up and do what you want! If you find that your Next Page break has morphed into an Odd Page break, don’t make the mistake of trying to delete and reinsert it. This may result in loss of formatting and rarely accomplishes what you want.

Instead, with the essay forest life insertion point below the section break (in the section that begins with the wrong kind of write a college 5 page, break), go to forest life secret, the Layout tab of Page Setup : Word 2003 and earlier: Use File | Page Setup or double-click at the top of the horizontal ruler. Select the Layout tab. Word 2007 and above: Access the Page Setup dialog by clicking the dialog launcher arrow at the bottom right corner of the Page Setup group on the Page Layout tab or double-click at the top of the horizontal ruler. Select the Layout tab. Change the “Section start” back to science, “New page.” Figure 4. The Page Setup dialog showing the Section start dropdown. Important Warning: Another situation in which Word may change a Next Page break to photograhpic, Odd Page can be much more insidious. If you are restarting numbering in each section (so that the first page of each section is 1), and you have either Mirror margins or Different odd and even (headers and footers) enabled (or possibly even if you don't), Word will assume that you are intending to duplex the document and will force an essay, Odd Page break because it knows that page 1 is an odd page, and it will insist that the photograhpic secret odd page be printed on the front (recto) side of a sheet. What makes this situation particularly insidious is that the science Layout tab of Page Setup may still show the break as New page, and the section break marker may still say Section Break (Next Page), but the next page will be a recto one, preceded by a blank verso (even) page if necessary.

This can be especially difficult to troubleshoot if the document is one you did not create, even more so if the page number is essay forest photograhpic, not displayed (printed) on the page, so that you may not realize that numbering has been restarted. The most disastrous result of all this, however, is that, despite the outlines fact that, in your view, the new section begins with page 1, Word considers that preceding blank page part of the new section, so if you try to use Page X of Y numbering in that section, you will get a Y value that is essay photograhpic, one larger than the master networking last page number; for example, in a section with pages numbered 1 to 6, you'll get Page 1 of 7, Page 2 of 7, all the forest secret way to Page 6 of basic an essay, 7 on the last page. Whether this is an argument against essay photograhpic restarting numbering or against using Page X of Y or just against science or curse not trying to combine them with an photograhpic secret, Odd Page section start I leave it to disadvantages of internet essay writing, you to photograhpic, decide! Helpful Tip: You may well be using Odd Page breaks intentionally and want to be able to see the blank pages that Word inserts. These pages are never displayed in Print Layout view, but you can see them in Print Preview if you have more than one page displayed.

The problem is that Word shows pages 1 and 2, then 3 and 4, and basic an essay, so on. If you are laying out a book and essay forest secret, want to see true facing pages (1 alone, then 2 and guide an essay, 3, and so on), these conditions must be met: You have enabled either “Mirror margins” (on the forest Margins tab of Page Setup ) or “Different odd and even” (on the Layout tab of Page Setup or in the Options group on the Header Footer Tools | Design tab in Word 2007 and above), and. You display two or more pages in Print Preview. Although you can display multiple pages on disadvantages of internet writing, the Print tab of the Backstage in Word 2010 and above (by reducing the Zoom), you may prefer the classic Print Preview, which can be accessed by secret adding Print Preview Edit Mode to to write, the Quick Access Toolbar. Blank pages not caused by forest Word at all. If you are getting a blank page at the end of essay, every document you print and have exhausted all other explanations, check the printer Properties to see whether there is a “separator page” option that has been enabled.
